The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect dye obtained from Buddleja coriacea and metallic mordants on chromatic properties, textile characteristics, spectral profiles, color stability in alpaca fibers. extraction technique involved boiling an aqueous solution, followed by filtration. Subsequently, yarns were dyed using resulting extract following a standard protocol. applied included sodium sulfate (Na2SO4), aluminum potassium dodecahydrate (KAl(SO4)2·12H2O), oxalic acid (C2H2O4). Spectroscopy UV-Vis FTIR spectrophotometry methods used for characterization samples analysis during dyeing process. findings revealed formation four distinct tones. Additionally, it determined that influenced properties fibers with without modifying their characteristics. identified bands corresponded keratin, structural protein Changes intensity these observed samples, attributable presence different mordants. Wet rub fastness found be inferior dry fastness, which has implications maintenance. In conclusion, flowers provide effective yellow dye, when combined various mordants, they allow variety shades hues fiber yarns.

This conceptual review addresses the social sustainability challenges facing traditional alpaca pastoralism in Peru, particularly light of economic and environmental interventions such as selective breeding for international market demands. While efforts to prioritize are well-documented, neglect threatens survival Andean knowledge, practices, cultural resilience. Utilizing a triple-bottom-line framework, this explores impacts genetic biodiversity conservation within Peruvian value chain. It highlights how breeding, driven by global preferences, risks eroding not only diversity alpacas but also herding practices. The underscores need increased attention dimensions when implementing technical solutions challenges, emphasizing preservation indigenous knowledge systems practices sustain livelihoods heritage alpaqueros. Recommendations include prioritizing integrating into development agendas, fostering greater participation from communities, encouraging transmission intergenerational ensure long-term viability pastoralism. Future research directions discussed.
