The rapid development of science and technology has made scientific literacy a key focus in education, with concepts considered central to the citizens’ literacy. However, misconceptions hinder improvement students’ Misconception tier diagnostic technologies (MTDTs) provide an effective means for assessing depth understanding concepts. This paper provides systematic review research on MTDTs from 1985 2024. Following PRISMA standards, comprehensive literature search was conducted across multiple databases. screening process is described detail, selection steps are visually presented. A total 28 studies were selected, analyzing history, effectiveness, practical application this various domains. results show that have undergone rigorous reliability validity assessments, demonstrating high quality. Four-tier regarded as most accurate method identifying misconceptions. widely applied physics biology, relatively fewer applications geography. Moreover, more commonly used school higher education but underused primary education. With ongoing technological advancements, transitioning toward large-scale online applications. study also reveals prevalent among students educational stages subjects. interventions targeting these lack validation empirical research.
