Global efforts to develop low-cost solutions for the treatment of contaminants in wastewater continue unabated. The conversion eggshells, a waste material, into high-value product can be economical and environmentally sustainable. recent developments applying eggshells towards biosorption are presented. Eggshells effectively remove pollutants such as metal cations, anions, reactive, basic, direct dyes. Promising advances modifying elucidating critical operational parameters, optimizing process have been reported. To this end, modeling kinetics, equilibrium, thermodynamics, mechanisms discussed. Also, 3-stage category is proposed better classify biosorbent preparation efforts. pseudo-second-order model was reported represent kinetics best, implying that chemisorption may key attachment mechanism most instances. Langmuir best represented equilibrium data, inferring monolayer sorption on homogenous surfaces. Most studies uptake physisorption or chemisorption. Despite these strides, application eggshell remains mostly at laboratory testing stage. Thus, points from recommendations future inquiry
