Bat coronaviruses cause a wide range of illnesses in humans and animals. Bats are known to harbor diversity Alphacoronaviruses Betacoronaviruses. Betacoronaviruses have been linked Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Middle East (MERS), other diseases such as gastroenteritis, bronchiolitis, pneumonia. In the last 20 years, three betacoronaviruses emerged caused widespread outbreaks humans, including two deadly betacoronavirus epidemics, SARS-CoV, with mortality rate 10%, MERS-CoV, 34.7%, SARS-CoV-2, which COVID-19 pandemic, 3.4%. Studies shown that bats main natural reservoirs for these viruses or their ancestral viruses. Observed variations bat coronavirus genomes indicate may potential transmit hosts close contact subsequently humans. As today, there no reported cases direct transmission from One reason this might be intermediate required Further studies needed map amino acids genomic regions responsible interactions between spike its receptors.
