In West Africa, the impacts of flooding are becoming more severe with climate warming. Flood-prone communities in Kogi State north-central Nigeria affected by annual and some extreme flood events. The negative remain a major obstacle to development, environmental sustainability, human security, exacerbating poverty region. Reducing managing increasingly challenge for individual households. Analysing vulnerability (a function exposure, susceptibility, lack resilience) identifying its causes using an index-based approach achieve sustainable risk management were focus this study. A semi-structured questionnaire was used collect relevant data from 400 households 20 purposively selected communities. Based on expert opinions extensive literature review, 16 sets indicators developed. These normalised aggregated compute index (FVI) each community. This then compare, classify, rank terms their flooding. results study showed that at varying levels Four including Onyedega, Ogba Ojubo, Odogwu, Ichala Edeke found have very high compared others. Several factors such as poor building structures, evacuation measures, over-dependence agriculture, diversification economic activities, weak household capacity identified causes. findings useful developing reduction adaptation strategies, ecosystem-based approaches, reduce current future other countries similar conditions.

The flood hazard risks and vulnerability in the urban areas alongside major rivers of India have been gradually increasing due to extreme climatic events. present study is intended assess potential risk aims ascertain management strategies Nabadwip Municipality, a statutory area West Bengal. multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) selected criteria geospatial techniques employed determine area. has conducted using secondary datasets including relevant remotely sensed data participant observation. flood-affected zones determined normalized difference index (NDFI) (FVI). analysis standardized precipitation (SPI) 20 years monthly shows variability seasonal rainfall distribution Furthermore, spatial composite Ibrahim socio-economic development accents that was uneven. municipal wards situated central northeastern portions Municipality were extremely vulnerable, whereas western southwestern less vulnerable. In recent years, there is growing interest for evaluation of urban flood risks cities over the past decade due to rapid urbanization and climate change. The optimal risk assessment strategically achieved not only with classical modelling approaches but also holistic comprehensive framework. This paper focuses on a detailed providing database policymakers planners decide prone areas in Turkey. this context, Entropy based VIKOR (VIseKriterijumska Optimizacija Kompromisno Resenje) was provided evaluate range criteria named number floods, population density buildings, protection area which are under concept dimension including “hazard, exposure vulnerability” aspects. Computational results demonstrate that provinces Şanlıurfa, Ordu, Zonguldak Van assigned higher values, respectively ranking presented different q values. findings should support practitioners researchers land use planning reduction works as terms management.

In the past two decades, several floods have affected people and their properties in Burkina Faso, with unprecedented flooding occurring Ouagadougou September 2009. So far, most studies focused on surrounding localities paid little attention to other flood-prone regions Faso. Consequently, there is a data knowledge gap regarding flood risk Haut-Bassins region, which turn hinders development of mitigation strategies reduction measures communities. This study demonstrates how collected at household level can be used understand its components village this data-scarce region. Using an indicator-based method, we analyzed both perception level. Moreover, determined factors influencing using ordered logit model. We found that 12 out 14 villages our sample group had experienced high levels risk. The management runoff from nearest urban areas as well poorly designed civil engineering infrastructures, such roads, were highlighted by households significant increased vulnerability. Additionally, perceived consistently exceeds estimated risk, insignificant positive correlation between indices. Regression results indicate mainly influenced informational behavioral households. findings provide valuable information municipal regional authorities involved disaster within area. our/this method transferable regions.
