Cyanobacterial blooms present substantial challenges to managers and threaten ecological public health. Although the majority of cyanobacterial bloom research management focuses on factors that control initiation, duration, toxicity, geographical extent, relatively little role loss processes in how these are regulated. Here, we define a process terms population dynamics as any removes cells from population, thereby decelerating or reducing development extent blooms. We review abiotic (e.g., hydraulic flushing oxidative stress/UV light) biotic allelopathic compounds, infections, grazing, resting cells/programmed cell death) known govern loss. found dominant depend several system specific including genera-specific traits, situ physicochemical conditions, microbial, phytoplankton, consumer community composition. also address context discuss perspectives predicting changing climate may directly indirectly affect A deeper understanding their underlying mechanisms help mitigate negative consequences improve current strategies.

Abstract Wastewater treatment is designed to eradicate toxic pollutants emanating from the industrial effluent surface and underground water. The efficiency limitations of most existing water techniques such as coagulation/flocculation, photocatalysis, membrane technologies adsorption in remediation have been established. Submerged plants inhibit algae through shading effects, nutrient competition, allelopathy, and combinations of these mechanisms. However, it is unclear which mechanism dominant, how the inhibition intensity results from traits plant algae. In this study, we performed meta-analysis to quantitatively identify dominant mechanisms, evaluate relationship between species functional submerged or algae, reveal influences external environmental factors. We found that allelopathy caused stronger than effect competition dominated combined Although leaf shapes influenced light availability, did not change degree suppression. This study assesses impact of combined use selected macro- and microalgae improve nutritional profile labeling vegetable cream by introduction nutrition claims. As macroalgae, two Ascophyllum nodosum L., one natural (An) smoked (AnS), were for high iodine concentration flavor notes. A new strain Chlorella vulgaris, golden (CvG), was as microalgae, which is rich proteins has neutral sensorial (golden color mild flavor). In this study, creams compared. The control (CTRL) versus enriched with mixture macroalgae (CV-AN). Sensory, physicochemical, functional properties both evaluated. bioactivity assessed effect claim antioxidant antihypertensive properties. CV-AN showed significantly higher values (p < 0.05) protein content, value, activity, no significant differences > activity or sensory panel. incorporation these algae resulted better acceptability comparable control, offering source claims labeling.
