This study presents results from an experimental campaign to explore how different riparian zone characteristics may facilitate the transport or capturing of plastics floating through fluvial system. Specifically, following field observations for vectors, a substantial number flume experiments has been designed assess effect macro-plastics and characteristics. The were analyzed using particle tracking velocimetry techniques derive metrics (such as velocities) sizes shapes, released at five locations across wide channel with distinct distance vegetated riverbank. findings are discussed while considering trapping mechanisms along riverbank, which include range vegetation densities arrangements, aiming identify quantify degree impact each control parameters on plastics. flow records obtained near within riverbank correlate well velocities Macro-plastic litter carried downstream away can have up nine times velocity, compared those found change low high average density result in about three decrease velocity macro-plastic zone. These outcomes help inform better practices management maximize efficiency macro-plastics, adapted conditions river morphologies.
