This study uses the Kherlen River as a case to investigate relationship between soil nutrients in riparian zones and water quality inlet sections of lakes. Field sampling experimental analyses were conducted during high-water period (July) 2023. An investigation was on both river segments entering lake nutrients. Methods such comprehensive index (WQI), spatial heterogeneity analysis, gray relational analysis employed assess quality, nutrient characteristics, their interrelationships, respectively. The results indicated that period, average concentrations permanganate (CODMn), total nitrogen (TN), phosphorus (TP), dichromate oxidizability (CODCr) exceeded Class V surface standard thresholds. overall WQI 22.54, reflecting generally poor with Global Moran’s I 0.21, indicating spatially clustered distribution. In watershed, values for pH values, TOC, TN, TP at depths 0–10 cm 10–20 0.52, 0.90, 0.86, 0.94 0.51, 0.57, 0.77, 0.78, A significant positive correlation found among nutrients, exhibiting strong aggregation characteristic, decreasing increasing depth. Moreover, demonstrated (R2 > 0.6) indicators, underscoring substantial impact quality. Based these findings, targeted management ecological restoration measures are proposed improve Hulun Lake, providing new insights scientific evidence sustainable development ecosystems.
