Contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) comprise a diverse group substances whose presence in the environment is increasing due to their potential negative effects on human health and environment. Multiple studies have concluded that nanofiltration (NF) reverse osmosis (RO) membrane separation mechanisms are effective barriers for organic pollutants, showing generally high removal efficiency. In this study, nine indicator CECs included Directive (EU) 2024/3019 concerning urban wastewater treatment were selected used as reference calculate percentage all micropollutants present influent plants (WWTPs). According regulations, minimum average 80% load must be achieved by analyzing at least six out set twelve micropollutants, including those considered study. The treatments conducted using three commercial RO membranes one NF membrane. Our findings indicate technology alone can remove over studied, except benzotriazole. An analysis was carried understand performance each CEC relation type, taking into account pollutant physicochemical properties observed efficiencies.
