Microbial desalination cells (MDCs) are an efficient method for the of saline wastewater driven by metabolism bacteria via organic oxidation mechanism. Systematic studies have been conducted to elucidate anion-dominated interactions avoid unforeseen risks in microbial during long-term treatment complex containing various anions. Despite different anion migration having less effect on MDC operation compared with cations, they influenced their own properties (hydrated ion radius, diffusion coefficient and equivalent conductance) ambient solution. This also led removal efficiency anions following sequence: NO3− > Cl− SO42−. The high Gibbs hydration energy SO42− hydrophobicity exchange membrane affect transmembrane However, steric hindrance formed inhibits reverse at end cycle. In addition, anodic biotopography community caused change, such that number denitrifying increases relative abundance electrogenic further improves. With decreasing pH, microorganisms form a shell protect against biogenesis. this study, was used treat actual industrial tailwater, salt stabilized 63.2–74.1%.
