ABSTRACT As global cities become urbanised, cargo deliveries emerge to be crucial for last‐mile delivery of daily needs and economic vitality. In Sub‐Sahara Africa, especially Tanzania, there is a spike in the adoption three‐wheelers, particularly electric ones, delivery. However, their sustainability concerns remain underexplored. This study aims evaluate performance e‐tricycle terms energy, economy, environment when deployed medium‐size targeted routes Dar es Salaam city, Tanzania. The was compared with those traditional modes such as petrol‐powered motorcycles, tuk‐tuk, light‐duty car (LDC). revealed consume up 0.54 kWh/one‐way trip 1.07 kWh/km while motorcycle, LDC consumed approximately 18.54, 35.60, 44.50 kWh/km, depending on route length. Economically, e‐tricycle, cost around TZS 120, 220, 320, 870 per km reached 2950, 5200, 3250, 15,700. When restricting weight 250 kg, kg could reach 50, 110, 150, 380. Replacing an reduce between 10.81 43.24 kgCO 2 day, or 2.70 trip. insights from this used improve future city planning by integrating low‐cost clean mode transportation.

Green transportation is the core embodiment of ecological civilization and concept green development within field transportation, it an important strategic choice for sustainable urban development. National central cities represent highest level in China’s system planning. This paper aims to evaluate national cities. It established a set 29 specific evaluation indicators from five dimensions: basic indicators, infrastructure, traffic environmental protection, travel, safety. constructed index transportation. The entropy weight TOPSIS method was utilized levels nine 2020 2022. An obstacle degree model identify key factors at both criterion indicator layers Suggestions were proposed aspects: establishing comprehensive policy framework, promoting regional collaborative development, accelerating infrastructure construction, improving service quality, fostering upgrading industries. results showed that ranking among high low years 2020–2022 as follows: Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu, Beijing, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Wuhan, Xi’an, Zhengzhou. In terms spatial layout, generally exhibited “high on periphery, center” distribution characteristic. layer After screening criteria where calculation are above 15%, safety eliminated. cities, which located different regions, maintained consistent internal their order. top with frequency degrees total passenger transport volume, number taxis, new energy vehicle production, expenditure freight volume.
