Pulmonary fibrosis develops both spontaneously and as a result of lung damage by radiotherapy chemotherapy, infectious diseases, inhalation harmful substances particulate matter. In this case, normal tissue repair is disturbed: instead regeneration cells, the damaged replaced fibrotic one consisting dense collagen fibers. This leads to loss elasticity impairment its function, which significantly reduces quality patients’ lives. The search for drugs interstitial diseases remains an urgent task, since existing antifibrotic only slow down disease progression have side effects that reduce life. It believed natural polyphenolic substances, in particular flavonoids, can be used treatment pulmonary fibrosis. Flavonoids present various fruits, vegetables, tea wine show wide range biological activities. They antioxidant, anti-inflammatory immunomodulatory properties, making them promising including Some studies shown flavonoids inhibit myofibroblast activation production, directly related process. are safe influence hallmarks fibrosis: oxidative stress, inflammation, cell proliferation differentiation. To date, large amount experimental data confirming effect has been accumulated. recent years, clinical conducted investigate efficacy safety patients with For example, quercetin curcumin being explored encouraging results reducing markers inflammation lung. However, main obstacle widespread introduction flavonoid into practice their low oral bioavailability rapid metabolism. on development analyzed review. perspectives improving using modern delivery systems (nanoparticles, liposomes, etc.), well dosage forms topical application, discussed paperwork.
