(1) Background: Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) presents significant challenges in aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery, impacting patient outcomes well-being. Understanding its prevalence associated factors is crucial for effective care. (2) Methods: A systematic review of national international databases on body disorder, cosmetic yielded 999 studies between 1878 April 2024. Inclusion criteria focused reporting while excluding those with small sample sizes (<20 participants), unclear diagnostic BDD, non-English accessibility. (3) Results: meta-analysis using a random effects model was conducted 65 involving 17,107 patients to estimate the BDD. The overall estimated BDD 18.6%; 10,776 (62.9%) were females, mean age 35.5 ± 11.7 years. Prevalence of cosmetic surgery and its relationship with psychosocial status: a population based study in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq DOI

Purpose This study aims to investigate the prevalence of cosmetic surgery and its relationship with level mental health socioeconomic variables in Sulaymaniyah city Iraq. Design/methodology/approach descriptive-analytical cross-sectional was conducted on 941 subjects who were selected using multistage sampling method. Data collected a checklist as well questionnaire. analysis done chi-square test multiple logistic regression model Stata software version 20. Findings The 13.4% (female: 17.5%; male: 8.2%). most common types rhinoplasty (7.6%) women hair transplant (5.5%) men. Overall, type among both groups. In total, having symptoms disorders 34.5% it significantly higher people history (65.1%) than those without any experience (29.8%) ( p < 0.001). Being female (odds ratio [OR] = 2.07; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.33–3.22), mild (OR 2.76; CI: 1.71–4.47) moderate or severe 7.48; 4.60–12.29) important that could affect performing surgery. Originality/value is high, based findings this study, gender status are effective factors regard. Designing targeted interventions suggested an emphasis reduce rate surgeries.
