The
Ngalaksa
traditional
ceremony
is
a
significant
cultural
practice
in
Rancakalong,
Sumedang,
West
Java,
serving
as
vital
medium
for
preserving
intangible
heritage.
While
prior
studies
have
explored
the
broader
significance
of
such
ceremonies,
limited
research
has
examined
specific
roles
and
challenges
faced
by
elders
safeguarding
these
traditions
amid
modernization
globalization.
This
study
addresses
this
gap
analyzing
multifaceted
Rancakalong
Tourism
Village
heritage
embodied
within
ceremony.
Employing
qualitative
approach
with
case
method,
data
were
collected
through
observations,
in-depth
interviews,
documentation.
findings
highlight
critical
ceremonial
leaders,
guardians
values,
and,
most
importantly,
key
knowledge
transmitters
who
bridge
past
present,
ensuring
authentic
transmission
to
younger
generations.
reveals
that
elders’
efforts
extend
beyond
continuity;
they
also
serve
form
resistance
against
homogenizing
forces
modernization,
playing
crucial
role
maintaining
identity
local
wisdom.
concludes
supporting
empowering
essential
not
only
but
continuity
evolving
socio-cultural
landscapes.
These
implications
policy
development
aimed
at
strengthening
community-based
preservation
initiatives
promoting
sustainable
tourism
practices
respect
value
indigenous
systems.
