Abstract This study presents Cathode flow field designs for passive type air-cooled PEM fuel cell to enhance heat removal and H2O retention. The presented come with 5 different three dimensional (3D) patterned designs. First, hypotheses were formed based on the research questions objectives. Followed by that, a deep literature review was done collect all relevant data about Passive in order provide clear pathway process of 3D design simulation. new cathode conceived conducted. sketched SolidWorks CFD fluent simulation performed ANSYS. collected is evaluated terms water content, average temperature, current flux density. proposed show an improvement enhancing 1.33% improving retention 6% independently. However, density shows reduction 0.51% 0.64% final values which not desirable as one objectives this paper performance cell. This study numerically investigated the improvement of heat transmission to phase change material (PCM) paraffin wax in a triangular cell with and without fins. The enthalpy–porosity combination was quantitatively evaluated using ANSYS/FLUENT 20 program. Materials shifts were used this (RT42). According findings, fins significantly accelerate melting process decrease time required finish it. difference between is 125%. Moreover, inclusion v-shaped contributed 200% reduction time. Thus, use facilitates faster transfer from applications wherein materials are used.
