Bee propolis has been touted as a natural antimicrobial agent with the potential to replace antibiotics. Numerous reports and reviews have highlighted functionalities applications of compound. Despite much clamor for downstream application propolis, there remain many grounds cover, especially in upstream production, factors affecting quality propolis. Moreover, geopropolis cerumen, akin hold promise diverse human applications, yet their benefits intricate manufacturing processes subjects intensive research. Specialized cement bees are pivotal gathering transporting plant resins from suitable sources nests. Contrary common belief, these directly applied within hive, smoothed out by bees, blended beeswax trace components create raw Beekeepers subsequently harvest perform extraction form final extract that is sold on market. Stingless bees belong to the Meliponini tribe and are widely distributed in tropics subtropics, where they perform important ecological services. Among best groups of stingless is genus Scaptotrigona, which includes 22 species throughout neotropical region, including area from Mexico Argentina. Bees this responsible for production products such as honey, propolis, geopropolis fermented pollen ("saburá"). This review aimed provide an overview chemical composition biological activities associated with derived Scaptotrigona. The bibliographic was carried out through searches Scopus, Web Science, ScienceDirect PubMed databases, publications 2003 January 2023. study chemodiversity Scaptotrigona demonstrated mainly presence flavonoids, phenolic acids, terpenoids alkaloids. It also that exhibit a wide range effects, antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory antifungal activities, among other bioactivities. provides phytochemical pharmacological investigations However, it essential clarify toxicity food safety these products.

Stingless native bees are essential for the preservation of ecosystems as they contribute to maintenance biodiversity and stability forest fragments. Information on how these species behave in urban environments is still scarce Brazil. For this reason, aim study was investigate occurrence stingless area city Realeza (PR) through localization nests active passive capture methods. Sampling conducted between October December 2022, a period peak nectar-producing flowering region. The searches were carried out five sectors, covering both public private areas, aspects landscape such floral species, physical characteristics buildings, nesting substrates recorded. During survey, 23 Tetragonisca angustula Scaptotrigona depilis recorded, foraging activities bipunctata Plebeia spp. also detected. fragments face challenges due urbanization exotic vegetation. adapts artificial substrates, while depends natural cavities. Wooden houses favor nesting, strategies shelters, plants, sustainable cultural practices conserving pollinators ecosystem services.
