When it comes to asynchronous online learning, the literature recommends multimedia content like videos of lectures and demonstrations. However, lack emotional connection absence teacher support in these video materials can be detrimental student success. We proposed incorporating talking heads annotations alleviate weaknesses. In this study, we investigated cognitive affective effects integrating solutions lectures. Guided by theoretical lens Cognitive Theory Multimedia Learning Cognitive-Affective with Media, produced a total 72 (average = four per subtopic) mean duration 258 seconds (range 193 318 seconds). To comparatively assess our treatments (i.e., regular videos, face, annotation, or face annotation), conducted an educational-based cluster randomized controlled trial within 14-week academic period cohorts students enrolled introductory web design development course. recorded 42,425 page views (212.13 student) for all browsing activities learning platform. Moreover, 39.92% (16,935 views) were attributed pages accumulating 47,665 minutes watch time. Our findings suggest that combining yielded highest performance, longest time, satisfaction, engagement, attitude scores. These discoveries have significant implications designing education students’ engagement. Therefore, concluded institutions, curriculum developers, instructional designers, educators should consider before relocating face-to-face courses systems maximize benefits video-based learning.
