Abstract Background Like any major operation, sleeve gastrectomy (SG) has its reported postoperative complications. Among them are venous thromboembolic complications (VTE) that may predispose to mortality. Despite the proven efficacy of traditional anticoagulants, such as low molecular weight heparins (LMWHs) for VTE management, they have their limitations. Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) been currently adopted management VTE. We conducted this study evaluate and safety apixaban against after laparoscopic in comparison with LMWH. Methods This was a randomized controlled trial included 100 adult patients who underwent SG received LMWH (Group A) or B) prophylaxis. recorded analyzed events up 30th day surgery. Results Group A (n = 50) B 50). No occurred either group (0%). Postoperative bleeding encountered one patient each (2%). The follow-up Doppler unremarkable two groups. Conclusion Apixaban shown be effective safe preventing LSG. Taking into account specific advantages DOACs, presents promising alternative prevention undergoing bariatric

Abstract Objectives The objective of this web-based study is to analyze the attributes bariatric surgery cases ensuing health implications. Additionally, seeks delve into factors influencing post-bariatric psychological evaluations and impact various surgeries on weight loss psycho-social assessment scores for patients who had undergone within a specific center in Egypt between January 2017 2024. Methods An analytical cross-sectional recruited 411 adults different procedures by same surgical team. We collected data using validated self-administered questionnaire that included Body Image Scale (BIS), Rosenberg Self-Esteem (RSES), quality-of-life score (QOLS), modified General Patient Satisfaction Score after Bariatric Surgeries (GSABS). Results most commonly performed was sleeve gastrectomy (SG), accounting 82.7% procedures. majority (78%) were female, with mean age 35.8. Among participants, 32.4% reported experiencing complications, 21.2% those individuals still complications at time assessment. BIS 16.54 ± 6.27, indicating an average body image perception. RSES yielded 20.11 4.63, self-esteem, while GSABS 8.08 2.39, overall level patient satisfaction. No statistically significant differences found types terms total percentage, excess or timing intervention. However, increased intervals from noted reduction BIS. Conclusion underwent SG Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) exhibited high scores. also all other interventions showed normal All resulted QOLS. Furthermore, increases intervention's recentness, but it significantly decreases second-year post-surgery. Conversely, older intervention, higher surgery.

Previously 2012, this mainly focused on ‘adipocyte dysfunctions link with resistance”; ‘relationship obesity, resistance, cardiovascular disease’. ‘Supplements improve sensitivity‘, ‘obesity-induced inflammation resistance’ found more recently (after 2014), indicating has acquired significant interest emphasis recent years. Conclusions This is first study focus at level. Our reporting quantifiable knowledge may be useful providing evidence direction for future research, clinical practice, educational initiatives.

Introduction: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) for morbidly obese patients often results in remission of type 2 diabetes (T2DM), but relapses some those patients. The frequency T2DM relapse Asians and the factors involved have not been adequately investigated. Methods: J-SMART study was conducted on 322 Japanese subjects with body mass index (BMI) ≥32 kg/m2 who underwent LSG at 10 accredited centers Japan between 2011 2014. Of these, 82 complete or partial 1 year after followed postoperatively 5 years were included subgroup analysis classified into two groups: remission-maintained relapse. Results: mean age all 49.2 years, median BMI 41.5 kg/m2, HbA1c 6.7%. Compared group, group had significantly higher preoperative HbA1c, number antidiabetic medications, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol level; lower homeostasis model assessment-beta cell function (HOMA-β). As many as 83.0% able to achieve <7% LSG, 26.8% Preoperative contributed (odds ratio 1.54, p = 0.049). In addition, tended percentage total weight loss (%TWL) regain (%WR) from postoperative nadir weight, compared group. hazard 3.14-fold %TWL ≥20% %WR ≥25%, 5.46-fold <20% <25%. Conclusion: While provides a high rate T2DM, is uncommon. poor loss, excess contribute relapse, suggesting importance treatment strategies focusing these factors.

Publications have grown significantly last decade, while low-income greater burdens continue produce fewer publications this field. This approach might assist researchers choosing new areas recognizing hotspots frontiers. In future, perhaps high-quality clinical evidence will be acquired.
