Since their inception, the French academic organizations dedicated to agricultural research have developed plant collections in genebanks, often within a public–private framework, support study of traits and development new improved varieties. In addition, since 2000s, centre for genomic resources has also been established France. Over last 20 years, this decentralized system, consisting genebanks resources, supported by national coordination structure. The objectives were align network activities with framework proposed Organisation Economic Co-operation Development (OECD) Biological Resource Centres foster collaboration other stakeholders involved conservation characterization genetic (PGR). 2015, was named BRC4Plants become part National Research Infrastructure RARe (www.agrobrc-rare.org), Ministry Research. This paper describes BRC4Plants, its users, services cross-cutting activities. We highlight relations international PGRs. aims be key player addressing societal challenges regarding agroecology, climate change mitigation healthy food systems.
