Exposure to ambient fine and respirable particulate matter is associated with poor sperm quality, but evidence for an aerodynamic diameter ≤ 1 μm (PM1) scarce. We aimed estimate the association between PM1 exposure concentration, count, total motility, progressive motility in Chinese men. conducted a cross-sectional study of 33,221 men attending infertility clinic Hubei, China, 2014 2020. Daily concentrations data were estimated from validated spatiotemporal artificial intelligence model. used multivariate linear regression parameters during spermatogenesis period after adjusting age, body mass index (BMI), education, ever having fathered child, season semen collection. In addition, we performed stratified analysis assess whether was varied by BMI, educational attainment. A 27,854 participants included final analysis. An interquartile range (17.2 μg/m3) increase entire development declined concentration [-4.39% (95% CI: −7.67%, −1.12%)] count [–23.56% −28.95%, −18.18%)], reduced [-0.86% −1.66%, −0.06%)] [-2.22% −3.00%, −1.43%)]. The associations homogeneous across subgroups defined age more pronounced among underweight count. identified critical window 0–9 lag days, 10–14 70–90 days before collection motility. Among especially ejaculation. These results suggest that might be novel risk factor impaired quality.

Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) chemical composition has strong and diverse impacts on the planetary environment, climate, health. These effects are still not well understood due to limited surface observations uncertainties in model simulations. We developed a four-dimensional spatiotemporal deep forest (4D-STDF) estimate daily PM2.5 at spatial resolution of 1 km China since 2000 by integrating measurements species from high-density observation network, satellite retrievals, atmospheric reanalyses, Cross-validation results illustrate reliability sulfate (SO42-), nitrate (NO3-), ammonium (NH4+), chloride (Cl-) estimates, with high coefficients determination (CV-R2) ground-based 0.74, 0.75, 0.71, 0.66, average root-mean-square errors (RMSE) 6.0, 6.6, 4.3, 2.3 μg/m3, respectively. The three components secondary inorganic aerosols (SIAs) account for 21% 20% 14% (NH4+) total mass eastern China; we observed significant reductions 40-43% between 2013 2020, slowing down 2018. Comparatively, ratio SIA increased 7% across except Beijing nearby areas, accelerating recent years. SO42- been dominant component China, although it was surpassed NO3- some e.g., Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region 2016. SIA, accounting nearly half (∼46%) mass, drove explosive formation winter haze episodes North Plain. A sharp decline concentrations an increase SIA-to-PM2.5 ratios during COVID-19 lockdown were also revealed, reflecting enhanced oxidation capacity particles.

Air pollution affects sustainable development of the natural environment and social economy. In this article, changes in air quality index (AQI) six pollutants Hohhot during 2014–2022 are analyzed. The results imply that annual average concentrations five (SO2, PM10, PM2.5, NO2, CO) AQI values declined year by over 2014–2022. Compared with 2014, fell 22.5% 2022. However, O3 increased year. PM2.5 PM10 were major factors influencing AQI. Among types atmospheric pollutants, relationship between NO2 is strongest, implying plays a significant influence formation PM2.5. Meteorological socio-economic have impact on quality. wind speed (AWS), pressure (AP), sulfur dioxide emissions (SOE), nitrogen oxide (NOE), particulate matter (PME) positive effect provide information great importance for management City.

In the context of global warming, frequency heat wave and concentration fine particulate matter (PM2.5) have increased, more people are co-exposed to air pollution extreme heat. However, interaction between PM2.5 on cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality remained largely unknown. We conducted a time-stratified case-crossover study 40,169 CVD deaths in Shenzhen, China 2013 2022. Meteorological data pollutants information were obtained based residential addresses from validated grid datasets. A total 21 definitions constructed using various relative temperature thresholds durations. Conditional logistic regression was used evaluate independent interactive effects exposure mortality. Abstract Background Cardiovascular disease (CVD) caused by air pollution poses a considerable burden on public health. ABSTRACT In the past decade, China has motivated proactive emission control measures that have successfully reduced emissions of many air pollutants. For atmospheric mercury, which is a globally transported neurotoxin, much less known about long-term changes in its concentrations and anthropogenic China. this study, over decade continuous observations at four Chinese sites show gaseous elemental mercury (GEM) continuously increased until early 2010s, followed by significant declines rates 1.8%–6.1% yr−1 2022. The GEM decline from 2013 to 2022 (by 38.6% ± 12.7%) coincided with decreasing criteria pollutants were larger than those observed elsewhere northern hemisphere (5.7%–14.2%). co-benefits contributed Hg led We estimated 38%–50% (116–151 tons) using machine-learning relationship models.
