Tipping points have gained substantial traction in climate change discourses, both as representing the possibility of catastrophic and irreversible physical societal impacts a way to set motion positive, rapid self-sustaining responses, such adoption new technologies, practices, behaviors. As such, tipping appear ubiquitous natural social systems. Here, we critique 'tipping point' framings, specifically their insufficiency for describing diverse dynamics complex systems; reductionist view individuals, agency aspirations; tendency convey urgency without fostering meaningful basis action. We argue clarifying scientific discussion phenomena lumped under umbrella by using more specific language capture relevant aspects (e.g., irreversibility, abruptness, self-amplification, potential surprise) critical evaluation whether, how why different framings can support accurate understanding effective risk management. Climate change is one of the most critical challenges our time, requiring significant responses from all aspects society, including education. The prevailing to climate tend towards treating crisis as a predominantly scientific and managerial issue that requires technological solutions or behaviour changes. Correspondingly, education (CCE) often focuses on teaching science (predominantly individual) change. We argue CCE, part broader environmental sustainability (ESE), needs, in addition short-term damage limitation response, simultaneous, longer-term, transformational approach goes beyond humanism engages with posthumanism. explore ideas about human continuity more-than-human world, relationality materiality humans. Abstract The sustainability of social–ecological systems within river deltas globally is in question as rapid development and environmental change trigger “negative” or “positive” tipping points depending on actors’ perspectives, e.g. regime shift from abundant sediment deposition to shortage, agricultural collapse rural urban land use. Using a systematic review the literature, we show how cascading effects across anthropogenic, ecological, geophysical processes have triggered numerous governance, hydrological, land-use management world’s deltas. Crossing had both positive negative that generally enhanced economic detriment environment. Assessment featured prominently revealed outcomes can inform long-term trajectory towards collapse. Management key drivers at delta scale place pathway sustainable development.

Abstract. Identifying, characterising and assessing the complex nature of risks is vital to realise expected outcome Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. Over past two decades, conceptualization risk has evolved from a hazard-centric perspective one that integrates dynamic interactions between hazards, exposure, systems vulnerabilities response risks. This calls need develop tools methodologies that can account such complexity in assessments. However, existing assessment approaches are hitting limits tackle complexity. To this aim, we developed novel methodology named ‘Impact Webs’, inspired by conceptual modelling approach Climate Impact Chains aspects various other models used assessments as Causal Loop Diagrams Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping.
