Abstract
Climate
change
requires
locally
tailored
solutions
that
consider
diverse
environmental
and
cultural
contexts.
This
study
situates
climate
action
within
Sweden's
forest
landscapes,
exploring
how
local
stakeholders
prioritize
motivate
targets
for
immediate
implementation.
By
engaging
in
knowledge
co‐production
processes
communities,
we
sought
to
develop
place‐based
pathways,
rooted
stakeholders'
visions
their
communities'
futures.
We
identified
three
main
pathways:
forest‐based
bioeconomy,
localism,
global
systemic
change.
These
pathways
varied
policy
targets,
governance
directions,
focus
of
change,
preferred
economic
systems.
found
while
the
generally
aligned
with
underlying
assumptions
overarching
scenario
archetypes,
ideological
differences
regarding
levels
directions
were
less
distinct.
Moreover,
despite
differing
foci
perspectives,
management
strategies
similar
all
pathways.
The
dimensions
became
visible
when
considering
forests.
Our
findings
underscore
embeddedness
broader
environmental,
social,
political
structures,
challenges
linking
landscape
understandings
processes.
While
practical,
specific
can
transcend
debates,
they
may
also
obscure
necessary
considerations
effective
land
use
adaptation
mitigation.
