Background and Objectives:To examine the correlation between concentration of vitamin D (VD) in venous blood at approximately 4 weeks age (±4 age) neonatal outcomes preterm infants (birth weight <1500 g or gestational <32 weeks) two intensive care units (NICUs) located Shenzhen, China. Methods Study Design: Preterm were split into groups based on their VD ±4 age: insufficiency (VDI) group (≤20 ng/mL) sufficient (VDS) (>20 ng/mL).Binary logistic regression analysis was used to relationships VDI.Results: Of 230 total, 119 (51.7%) assigned VDI 111 VDS (48.3%).No found serum (p>0.05).The starting point for oral intake did not differ significantly (p>0.05).At age, dose (P<0.05) greater group.Gestational diabetes mellitus associated with (OR=1.94,95% CI 1.01-3.75,p=0.047) after controlling this risk.Following correction dosage old, also linked a significant risk retinopathy prematurity (OR=2.00,95% 1.08-3.68,p<0.027).Conclusion: newborns (gestational birth g) NICUs China continue have high VDI.Higher is prematurity.

Background: Vitamin D is essential for neonatal health, with maternal vitamin status crucial in fetal development and outcomes. During pregnancy, transferred to the fetus via placenta, forming an initial reserve. Postnatally, neonates rely on levels supplementation due limited sunlight exposure immature skin synthesis. Objectives: This review evaluates deficiency’s causes clinical consequences, emphasizing its impact newborn infant health. Results: Maternal strongly correlate 25(OH)D concentrations, influencing birth weight, bone development, overall Supplementation during pregnancy reduces risk of severe deficiencies rickets, particularly exclusively breastfed infants who require daily 400 IU. Formula-fed typically meet requirements through fortified formulas. Preterm are at a higher complications like osteopenia mixed evidence effectiveness doses. critical skeletal immune function, protection against respiratory infections such as bronchiolitis pneumonia. Deficiency associated distress syndrome (RDS), atopic dermatitis, impaired mineralization reduced placental calcium transport. Conclusions: deficiency infancy has significant implications, including development. supplementations prevent deficiencies, high-risk groups preterm infants. Targeted strategies improve health outcomes complications.
