Journal of Anatolian Environmental and Animal Sciences, Journal Year: 2024, Volume and Issue: 9(1), P. 67 - 73

Published: Feb. 17, 2024

Salmo ekmekciae , new species, is described from the Köprüçay River, a drainage of Mediterranean Sea. It distinguished species in adjacent water by having 9–10 parr marks on flank; 11–13 scale rows between end base adipose-fin and lateral line; 22–24 gill rakers first arch; shorter distance caudal-fin base; slenderer caudal peduncle; body at origin. According to Bayesian, maximum likelihood analyses, cyt b gene resulted coherent trees supported high bootstrap values.

The taxonomic status of the Oxynoemacheilus from Karınca and Havran streams in north Aegean Basin was evaluated, it concluded that these populations contain a new species. species, kottelati sp. nov. , is distinguished by body with marbled pattern, deeper caudal peduncle, shorter wider interorbital distance, middle caudal-fin lope. differentiated closest O. marmaraensis possessing 51 nucleotide substitution sites, genetic distance 8.40%, presence an axillary lobe at base pelvic fin (vs. absent), narrower median incision upper lip absent). Three species delimitation tests (ASAP, ABGD, PTP) phylogenetic analyses reinforce validity as distinct

Phoxinus minnows are small freshwater fish found throughout Eurasia. The taxonomy of this genus is still under investigation, and new species regularly described. They frequently introduced outside their native range due to use as live bait for angling, such introductions can have diverse impacts on the recipient areas. Before rise in interest regarding diversity past 15 years, studies carried out biology ecology reported findings Eurasian minnow phoxinus Linnaeus, 1758, which was then considered ubiquitous. A parasites checklist has yet be published, recent progress enabled us propose a reassignment parasite records proper host. most thoroughly studied potential were North European sp. 7 sensu Palandačić et al. 2017, isetensis, P. phoxinus. We able highlight gap knowledge numerous that received little-to-no attention terms parasitology. Systematic molecular identification should conducted when studying parasites, reliable host vital parasitology research. Future research will certainly reveal species-specific composition parasitofauna occurring Phoxinus, especially among widespread Gyrodactylus Diplostomum. Such specificities could even become tools assessing introduction routes species.
