Background: Metabolic syndrome is a complex disorder characterized by the coexistence of multiple risk factors, including dysglycemia, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and visceral obesity. Both metabolic diabetes mellitus are closely associated with onset microvascular complications such as retinopathy, polyneuropathy, nephropathy. Methods: This narrative review analyzed 137 studies published up to 2025, retrieved from PubMed Crossref databases. The objective was identify evaluate potential biomarkers that could facilitate early detection in patients syndrome. Results: Several demonstrated strong correlation individuals These findings suggest their role diagnosis assessment. Conclusions: identification reliable may enhance targeted interventions for Further research essential validate these markers establish clinical applicability routine medical practice.

Age-related ocular diseases, including diabetic retinopathy (DR), age-related macular degeneration (AMD), cataract and glaucoma may lead to visual impairment even blindness. Metabolic such as obesity metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) have emerged potential risk factors of especially DR. Visceral adiposity has been associated with increased DR AMD in most clinical studies, although body mass index to-date provided conflicting association AMD. In addition, is recognized a factor glaucoma. Similarly obesity, MASLD appears be patients type 1 diabetes mellitus, but probably not those 2 mellitus. A positive between AMD, supported by limited evidence to-date, thus needing further investigation. Altered secretion patterns adipokines (adiponectin, leptin, lipocalin-2, resistin) hepatokines [adropin, fetuin-A, fibroblast growth (FGF)-21, retinol binding protein (RBP)-4] seem disrupt homeostasis contribute the development diseases context MASLD. this regard, novel adipokine-based hepatokine-based therapies added treatment options for future. This narrative review aimed summarize on interconnection specific focus roles mediators these associations.

Diabetic foot ulcers are a severe complication of diabetes, imposing substantial burden on both health and the economy. Bacterial infections, high glucose levels, intricate microenvironment oxidation collectively hinder healing diabetic wounds. Hydrogels responsive to have demonstrated significant advantages in treating wounds due their ability release drugs demand. The study utilized modified pectin hyaluronic acid develop self-recognizing self-treating composite hydrogel. Within this hydrogel, insulin was encapsulated using metal–organic framework with an ROS-responsive coating (ZIF-8@PEG-TK). Under low pH conditions, INS@ZIF-8@PEG-TK released responded excess ROS, ensuring sustained release. This hydrogel exhibited excellent antimicrobial antioxidant activities along biocompatibility. It promoted polarization macrophages, reduced accelerated cell proliferation collagen deposition, leading rapid wound closure. Accordingly, microenvironment-responsive is promising biomaterial for chronic
