Environmental disasters are becoming increasingly frequent and severe, disproportionately impacting vulnerable populations who face compounded risks due to intersectional factors such as gender, socioeconomic status, rural residence, cultural identity. These events exacerbate mental health challenges, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, particularly in low- middle-income countries (LMICs) underserved areas of high-income (HICs). Addressing these disparities necessitates inclusive, culturally competent, intersectional, cost-effective strategies. Artificial intelligence (AI) presents transformative potential for delivering scalable tailored interventions that account vulnerabilities. This perspective highlights the importance co-designing AI tools with at-risk populations, integrating solutions into disaster management frameworks, ensuring their sustainability through research, training, policy support. By embedding resilience climate adaptation strategies, stakeholders can foster equitable recovery reduce long-term burden environmental disasters.

Climate change is reshaping public health, introducing extreme weather conditions and environmental stressors-such as high temperatures, atmospheric pollution, desertification, storms (rain, thunder, hail)-that critically impact mental health. Evidence increasingly links these factors to higher rates of suicide-related outcomes, including suicidal ideation, attempts, self-harm. Such interactions underscore the importance understanding how climate-driven health risks vary by factor gender, gender-specific vulnerabilities shape responses climate stressors. By April 16, 2024, we conducted a comprehensive search PubMed, Web Science, Cochrane Library, PsycINFO, Scopus, ProQuest, Embase. Two researchers independently reviewed studies collected demographic data, systematically tracking recording suicide deaths, self-harm, anxiety. Data were rigorously cross-verified for accuracy consistency. The meta-analysis demonstrated significant associations between variables outcomes. High temperatures air pollution linked increased attempts (OR: 1.40, 95% CI: 1.34-1.45) deaths 1.51, 1.44-1.58), particularly among males. Conversely, desertification correlated with reduced likelihood ideation 0.73, 0.63-0.85). These findings highlight impacts, females exhibiting anxiety underscoring urgent need targeted interventions addressing climate-induced risks. This systematic review reveal impacts change, experiencing anxiety, while males show greater incidences deaths. emphasize integration services into policies address gender disparities. study registered PROSPERO [PROSPERO (york.ac.uk)] under identifier [CRD42024534961].

Introduction Australia’s diverse climate and temperatures render it susceptible to adverse extreme weather events, the impacts on social, emotional psychological wellbeing are complex. Recent studies in Poland, Ireland Norway validated a multi-dimensional integrative assessment of eco-emotions tool, Inventory Climate Emotions (ICE). Methods Given variations geographical, climatic, political cultural factors experienced worldwide, is necessary evaluate ICE across countries. This study first validation an Australian sample ( N = 659), provides evidence its structure, reliability validity. Results Confirmatory factor analysis indicated good fit after removal one item from isolation subscale, with model indices CFI 0.96, TLI 0.95, SRMR 0.045, RMSEA 0.049. The demonstrated strong internal consistency, Cronbach’s alphas ranging 0.79 0.94, moderate test–retest all subscales except for Powerlessness (ICC 0.48 0.74). Convergent validity was supported by significant positive correlations between Hogg Eco-Anxiety Scale, while divergent through weak or non-significant Riverside Life Satisfaction Scale. Discussion As not developed Australia, may account full range unique ecological socio-cultural context. However, this important initial support use Australia suggests that some emotions be common cultures.
