Differentiating between adolescent suicidal self-harm (SSH) and nonsuicidal (NSSH) is a significant challenge for mental health professionals, its feasibility controversial. The aim of the present study was to determine whether SSH can be differentiated from NSSH based on holistic analysis individual, psychological, sociodemographic, environmental data without relying intent acquired capability suicide assess findings' compatibility with current theories suicide. also sought compare result four suicide: interpersonal theory suicide, three-steps theory, integrated motivational-volitional model, suicidality self-destruction. This cross-sectional analyzed nationwide survey conducted 2017 2019 in Norway. population-based setting. sample included 26,904 adolescents (mean age = 15.01; 29.9 % males). machine learning classification model reached an AUC 77.0 70.0 both sensitivity specificity differentiating two conditions. Exploratory factor suggested eight factors clustering important risk protective indicators: 1) disordered eating future orientation, 2) sleep disturbance, 3) orientation toward affects self, 4) risk-taking behavior, 5) peer relationships, 6) victimization, safety, security, 7) family 8) substance use. results indicated that despite their high comorbidity, suicide-related information. These supported partially ideation-to-action theories.

This study aims to explore how children's experiences of sadness are related their coping strategies, attachment, and psychopathology. A sample 517 children described a sad event strategies. Events included bullying/quarrelling, frustration, accidents/illness, experienced/anticipated separation, loss. Coping strategies constructive coping, disengagement, absence-of-coping. Constructive was associated with secure attachment. Secure used disengagement for particularly bullying situations, absence-of-coping Children reporting during episodes frustration exhibited more externalizing symptoms. The results highlight relationships between circumstancialdimensions specific emotional experiences, the importance context-specific in promoting well-being.

ABSTRACT Introduction Suicidal behavior is a significant mental health concern among university students, yet it remains underexplored through network approach. Traditional methods often overlook the complex interplay of psychological factors influencing suicidal behavior. This study addresses this gap by (a) examining using analysis and (b) identifying along with protective risk students. Method The sample consisted total 1048 Spanish students ( M = 20.5 years; SD 2.5; 58.2% women) from various universities. Several instruments were used to measure behavior, emotional behavioral difficulties, prosocial subjective well‐being, intelligence, self‐esteem, empathy, affect (both positive negative), regulation. Data analyzed understand relationships these variables. Results A 21.5% participants had experienced thoughts, 26.3% wished be dead or not wake up, 15% considered specific suicide made plans, 5.8% attempted at least once. In addition, 18% engaged in non‐suicidal self‐injury (NSSI) Network revealed that was highly interconnected other factors, “considered taking own life” as most influential node. Key included depressive symptoms, affect, intelligence. showed connection symptoms negative self‐esteem affect. Stability confirmed accuracy estimations, indicating reliable insights into interconnections. Conclusions These findings indicate complex, dynamic system shaped cognitive, emotional, affective factors. analysis, advanced psychopathological psychometric models, offers valuable improving factor assessment. highlights need for targeted comprehensive prevention strategies educational settings.
