Maintaining an accurate model of the world relies on our ability to update memory representations in light new information. Previous research integration information into mainly focused hippocampus. Here, we hypothesized that angular gyrus, known be involved episodic and imagination, plays a pivotal role insight-driven reconfiguration representations. To test this hypothesis, participants received continuous theta burst stimulation (cTBS) over left gyrus or sham before gaining insight relationship between previously separate life-like animated events narrative-insight task. During task, also underwent EEG recording their for linked non-linked was assessed shortly thereafter. Our results show cTBS decreased linking reduced advantage relative events. At neural level, targeting centro-temporal coupling with frontal regions abolished insight-induced representational changes via indicating impaired reconfiguration. Further, group showed resembled patterns observed events, suggesting failed pruning narrative memory. Together, findings demonstrate causal insight-related reconfigurations.
