Abstract Background Dinosaur eggs containing embryos are rare, limiting our understanding of dinosaur development. Recently, a clutch subspherical was discovered while blasting for construction project in the Upper Cretaceous red beds (Hekou Formation) Ganzhou Basin, Jiangxi Province, China. At least two contain identifiable hadrosauroid embryos, described here first time. Results The eggs, attributable to Spheroolithidae indet., thin-walled and small (~ 660 mL) compared those Lambeosaurinae. shape embryonic squamosal is reminiscent that seen Late hadrosauroids Levnesovia transoxiana , Tanius sinensis Nanningosaurus dashiensis suggestive possible affinities. Conclusion size similar Hadrosaurinae, indicates larger hatchlings typical Lambeosaurinae evolutionarily derived.

Dinosaurs evolved a remarkable diversity of dietary adaptations throughout the Mesozoic, but origins different feeding modes are uncertain, especially multiple herbivory. Feeding habits early dinosaurs have mostly been inferred from qualitative comparisons dental morphology with extant analogs. Here, we use biomechanical and morphometric methods to investigate morphofunctional in comparison squamates crocodylians predict their diets using machine learning classification models. Early saurischians/theropods consistently classified as carnivores. Sauropodomorphs underwent shift faunivory herbivory, experimenting diverse during Triassic Jurassic, ornithischians were likely omnivores. Obligate herbivory was late evolutionary innovation both clades. Carnivory is most plausible ancestral diet dinosaurs, omnivory equally under certain phylogenetic scenarios. This fundamental rise ecological dominance.

Abstract Ankylopollexia was an abundant and diverse clade of ornithopods present in North America, Europe, Africa, Asia from the Late Jurassic to Cretaceous. However, relationships between basal ankylopollexians are poorly understood. A new ankylopollexian ornithopod genus species is described here, based on a dentary tooth, ungual pollex manus, almost complete left hindlimb. The fossils come deposits Villar del Arzobispo Formation (upper Kimmeridgian–Tithonian). Phylogenetic analysis revealed that Oblitosaurus bunnueli gen. et sp. nov. basalmost member Ankylopollexia, together with Draconyx loureiroi. Furthermore, these results have relevant taxonomic implications for Camptosaurus, being first phylogenetic support monophyly Camptosaurus species. estimated size suggests it largest Upper Europe one around world, could be trackmaker large tracks found Iberian Peninsula. This discovery increases known diversity Iberia, revealing presence does not appear contemporaneous outcrops America.
