Abstract Bees are the most important pollinators and, like many other insects, facing a global decline that threatens crop pollination services. Both honey bees and some wild bee species used commercially for pollination, including in blueberry cherry orchards. In our study, we assessed visits to experimental orchards immersed an urban landscape understand how air-temperature affects potential contribution of The services was estimated using Pollination Importance Value index, where pollen collected by floral visitor is determining variable. bumble were visitors orchards, followed Anthophora plumipes . We found affected changes their decrease offset niche complementarity provided bees. Implications insect conservation Even small can alter communities affecting susceptible low temperatures. Our work first assessment climate change may affect pollinator suggest strategies mitigate local areas, focusing primarily on these species, could potentially have cascading effects would support overall communities.

Looking from the perspective of importance beekeeping production for agriculture, and its impact on sustainability, biodiversity food security, research self-sufficiency in honey market is important. The aim this article was to assess Poland terms sustainability production. covered years 2002–2023. material consisted secondary sources information FAOSTAT 2024 database, reports Institute Horticulture, Department Beekeeping Puławy, IERiGŻ-PIB. used dynamic indicators, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, ratios (SSR) intra-industry trade (IIT) indicators. analysis showed that not self-sufficient Environmental issues related security will be important a change model Poland, as sector plays an role maintaining biodiversity; hence, assessment should treated broadly, including benefits agriculture.

Pollination services provided by a diversity of pollinators are critical in agriculture because they enhance the yield many crops. However, few studies have assessed pollination urban agricultural systems. We performed flower-visitor observations and experiments on strawberries (Fragaria × ananassa) an area near Paris, France, order to assess effects (i) insect-mediated service (ii) potential deficit fruit set, seed quality (size, weight, malformation). Flower-visitor revealed that pollinator community solely comprised unmanaged pollinators, despite presence beehives surrounding landscape. Based experiments, we found mediated wild insects improved size as qualitative value production, but not set. also no evidence our environment. These results suggest local is able support strawberry crop production thus plays important role providing high-quality, local, sustainable crops areas.
