Abstract Background New prospect of cancer therapeutical management seems to be early diagnosis and prognosis prediction by microRNAs. The aim our study is explore the role miR-525 in through a systematic review meta-analysis. Methods We conducted search PubMed, Embase, Web Science, Scopus, Medline, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) Wanfang databases up November 25, 2023, regardless language restrictions. Sensitivity, specificity, diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) were extracted for meta-analysis, while hazard (HR) with 95% confidence interval (CI) prognostic Subgroup analysis publication bias performed appropriately investigate possible sources heterogeneity. Results A total 8 studies included which 7 used covering 559 patients, 3 324 patients. pooled sensitivity was 0.75 (95%CI = 0.70 0.79), specificity 0.73 0.68 0.78), DOR 13.08 4.18 ~ 40.91), area under curve (AUC) 0.86 0.83–0.89). showed that may have good ability TNM stage cancer. Prognostic meta-analysis low expression patients associated preferable survival (HR 0.17, 95%CI 0.07–0.9). Conclusions Our findings suggest could as potential biomarker Low cancers predicted prognosis.
