Understanding Chinese University Students’ Preferences for Nature-based Recreation in Urban Parks DOI Creative Commons

Abstract:This study aim to measure the preference for nature-based recreation activities in parks among Chinese university students and identify key factors that influencing their choices. This research employ a quantitative approach, utilizing structured questionnaire collect data from 410 students, predominantly female, aged 21-23, seniors. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted quantify impact of environmental, individual social demographic on students’ preferences. The findings reveal prioritize such as walking, sunbathing, socializing, with like family income, gender, companionship, park accessibility significantly Environmental knowledge landscape elements further enhance preferences photography, meditation, outdoor sports. Notably, COVID-19 pandemic negatively impacted certain activities, underscoring its influence recreation. These insights highlight importance accessibility, aesthetic design, environmental education shaping students' recreational provides practical recommendations urban improving creating inclusive spaces cater diverse needs students. By addressing these factors, can better serve vital relaxation, socialization, well-being, contributing sustainable development.
