ABSTRACT Knowledge of wolf ( Canis lupus )‐beaver Castor canadensis ) interactions has largely been derived from indirect observations due to the cryptic nature wolves and densely forested areas where they usually kill beavers. In September 2023, we captured a video via remote camera killing an adult beaver that was foraging on feeding trail. This observation provides insight into how may prevent beavers reaching water after attack is initiated, as well attempt escape once attacked. The also recorded number before kill, providing unique opportunity observe behavior surviving videos trail for 11 nights predation 37 predation. time spent declined by 96% following Although present just single observation, it raises interesting question: possible or even plausible think might immediately alter extent which forage through predation? We provide detailed discussion possibilities highlight future research.
