In the realm of plant breeding, genetic diversity stands as a pivotal factor for advancing crop improvement initiatives. Morphological characterization assists critical role, allowing scrutiny discernible traits in plants this facilitates identification, classification, and comprehension variations present among diverse genotypes. The objective investigation was to scrutinize morphological 71 chickpea genotypes, with particular emphasis on 10 selected qualitative traits, adherence DUS testing guidelines. experimental design employed randomized complete block (RCBD) three replications at Research Farm, Department Genetics & Plant Breeding, College Agriculture, RVSVV, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India during Rabi 2021-22. Among parameters investigated, exhibited consistent dimorphic phenotype, six displayed distinct phenotypes (trimorphic), only one trait manifested more than phenotypic (polymorphic). genotypes showed substantial amount variability, demonstrating potential assigning profiles varietal identification characterization. Remarkably, such foliage flower color seed shape, high level within investigated employing Shannon's indices. This comprehensive not contributes understanding landscape but also provides valuable insights selection breeding programmes future.

Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is a legume crop belonging to the family Leguminosae (Fabaceae). Therefore, better insight association of yield with its component traits can be helpful in improving chickpea yield. The present study was conducted 25 genotype understand magnitude variability, heritability, genetic advance and various components their direct indirect effect on based twelve at Sam Higginbottom University Agriculture, Technology Sciences, Prayagraj during October–January 2022. ANOVA revealed significant variation existed for most trait. High GCV, PCV, heritability recorded by harvest index, seed yield, number pod per plant, pod. Seed plant shows highly positive plant. Harvest index biological showed highest
