The experiment was conducted on three mungbean genotypes to evaluate the effect of salicylic acid PEG (Poly Ethylene Glycol)-induced drought stress. stress imposes serious constraints plant growth, development, and yield attributes while (SA) alleviates in all genotypes. highest level (16% induced) decreased water status, shoot length root length, fresh weight dry weight, nodule number floral bud per plant, pods seed plant. More negative values OP (-MPa) were observed nodules MH 125 at moderate (8% induced drought) stress, leaves 215 genotype seeds protein (12.17%), starch (5.45%), fiber (25.26%) maximum Asha among other not much difference reported phosphorus content under as compared control. application SA exogenously improves parameters but pronounced more than other.

Cicer arietinum (chickpea) is an annual herbaceous crop and the world’s third most important food legume, belonging to genus Cicer. Chickpea rich in carbohydrates, proteins bioactive compounds. A variety of climatic environmental conditions influence chickpea growth, development grain yield. Its significance utilization for several health diseases have been cited ancient manuscripts Ayurvedic system medicine. Determining origin dispersal routes this plant has one interesting issues among botanists. This review gives outline available literature on morphological characteristics, origin, habitat features, nutritional compositionand medicinal uses chickpea. cultivated a wide agroecological worldwide, especially arid semi-arid climates. It susceptible soil type, pH, waterlogging, temperature (drought cold), rainfall, salinity, high boron, insect pathogen attacks, herbicidesand weeds, broad-leafed weeds. originated Mediterranean/Fertile Crescent from reticulatum through mutants spread Central Asia likely parallel South (India) East Africa (Ethiopia). chief source sustainable, inexpensive protein, also abundant complex fatty acids, isoflavones, vitamins, minerals dietary fiber. possesses medicinally significant activities such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-hypercholesterolemia, anti-hepatotoxicity, anti-hyperglycemia, anti-cancer nephrolithiasis.

Drought is a major limiting factor in the cultivation of Sophora alopecuroides China’s arid and semi-arid regions. This study aimed to identify drought-resistant S. ecotypes explore key drought tolerance indicators during germination by simulating conditions with 10% PEG-6000 solution, using pure water as control. Determination seven for alopecuroides, including rate (GR), energy (GE), index (GI), vigor (VI), promptness (PI), fresh weight (FW), dry (DW), was conducted. Principal component analysis (PCA), membership function, cluster analysis, linear regression were employed comprehensively evaluate resistance thirty-five ecotypes. The results showed that stress caused reductions six across all ecotypes, except DW, compared Correlation revealed varying relationships among indicators, most showing significant or highly correlations. PCA reduced two independent comprehensive factors, cumulative contribution 83.99%. Based on D-value ranked classified into four categories. top five drought-tolerant genotypes stage identified Yutian, Alar, Jinghe, Baoding, Guyuan. Moreover, stepwise model established demonstrated GR, GE, PI, FW, DW are screening identifying offers reliable method evaluating provides reference selecting artificial Northwestern China.

In the realm of plant breeding, genetic diversity stands as a pivotal factor for advancing crop improvement initiatives. Morphological characterization assists critical role, allowing scrutiny discernible traits in plants this facilitates identification, classification, and comprehension variations present among diverse genotypes. The objective investigation was to scrutinize morphological 71 chickpea genotypes, with particular emphasis on 10 selected qualitative traits, adherence DUS testing guidelines. experimental design employed randomized complete block (RCBD) three replications at Research Farm, Department Genetics & Plant Breeding, College Agriculture, RVSVV, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India during Rabi 2021-22. Among parameters investigated, exhibited consistent dimorphic phenotype, six displayed distinct phenotypes (trimorphic), only one trait manifested more than phenotypic (polymorphic). genotypes showed substantial amount variability, demonstrating potential assigning profiles varietal identification characterization. Remarkably, such foliage flower color seed shape, high level within investigated employing Shannon's indices. This comprehensive not contributes understanding landscape but also provides valuable insights selection breeding programmes future.
