Competitive card games, a widespread hobby, often contain aggressive or violent elements. According to the general aggression model, such games may increase players' cognition, emotions, and behaviors. Therefore, this study recruited 168 participants aiming examine specific impacts of short-term game exposure on post-game aggression. Post-game behaviors were assessed by spatial cueing task, positive negative affect schedule, maze selection respectively. Furthermore, Penn emotion recognition test was employed explore emotional cognitive bias after exhibiting in game. Importance

Numerous physical distancing measures were implemented to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 virus, which could have negatively affected child and adolescent activity levels.

Objectives

To conduct a systematic review meta-analysis literature that used validated document changes in during pandemic estimate whether differed between participant-level, contextual, methodological moderators.

Data Sources

PubMed, PsycInfo, SPORTDiscus, Web Science, Scopus, CINAHL, MEDLINE searched (from January 1, 2020, 2022). A total 1085 nonduplicate records retrieved.

Study Selection

Studies included if they reported (1) duration at any intensity for children or adolescents (age ≤18 years) comparing before using measurement tools (2) from general population samples, (3) peer-reviewed, (4) published English. Extraction Synthesis 126 articles underwent full-text review. Data analyzed random-effects meta-analysis, was conducted 2022.

This study investigated the psychological impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among youth by analyzing their emotional/behavioral problems before and during long-lasting lockdown in Spain. For that purpose, 699 parents with children aged 6-17 552 adolescents 12-17, who completed parent adolescent version Strengths Difficulties Questionnaire at beginning 2019, responded to a survey from 26 May 15 June 2020 assessed well-being life conditions quarantine (i.e., sociodemographic characteristics, situation lockdown, physical environment accompaniment COVID-related variables). Adolescence is a critical biopsychosocial adjustment period, with increased susceptibility to problematic media use (PMU) and associated risk-taking behaviors. The aim of the present study consisted identifying relationship between PMU (i.e., videogames, mobile phones, internet, television) anxiety in adolescents, considering moderating effect gender age. A descriptive using national survey was conducted on sample 4034 participants. Significant mean differences were found anxiety, large moderate sizes for (videogames) males (d = 0.86) females 0.67). Additionally, direct positive age observed. Furthermore, significantly predicted after controlling all cases. Gender had significant stronger (television) male subgroup. statistically more pronounced at younger ages. This research demonstrates association highlighting need further explore other factors influencing mental health symptoms beyond gender. Mental health conditions in childhood and adolescence are increasing the U.S. population require early intervention, as highlighted by a recent Surgeon General’s Advisory on Protecting Youth Health. These issues, which have been exacerbated COVID-19 pandemic, impair functioning, may lead to longer term reductions quality of life. Young adolescents likely experience stressors including academic pressure, feelings loneliness isolation, excessive exposure social media, all made worse pandemic associated disruptions. Universal preventive programs at school serve an important strategy for equipping youth with coping skills address current future emotional challenges. Yoga mindfulness emerged promising approach schools proven feasible acceptable. The study evaluated universal, school-based yoga program among aged 11–14 racially diverse, urban setting United States. Outcomes interest included symptoms anxiety depression. Importance Excessive screen media use has been associated with poorer mental health among children and adolescents in several observational studies. However, experimental evidence supporting this hypothesis is lacking. Objective To investigate the effects of a 2-week reduction intervention on children’s adolescents’ health. Design, Setting, Participants This prespecified secondary analysis cluster randomized clinical trial follow-up included 89 families (with 181 adolescents) from 10 Danish municipalities region Southern Denmark. All study procedures were carried out home participants. Enrollment began June 6, 2019, ended March 30, 2021. was conducted between January 1 November 2023. Intervention Families randomly allocated to group or control group. In sample including (intervention [45 families]: 86 children; [SD] age, 8.6 [2.7] years; 42 girls [49%]; [44 95 9.5 [2.5] 57 [60%]), there statistically significant difficulties score, favoring (−1.67; 95% CI, −2.68 −0.67; Cohen d , 0.53). greatest improvements observed for internalizing symptoms (emotional peer problems; difference, −1.03; −1.76 −0.29) prosocial behavior (between-group 0.84; 0.39-1.30). Conclusions Relevance found that short-term within positively affected psychological adolescents, particularly mitigating issues enhancing behavior.
