Abstract The construction of supramolecular networks with novel crosslinks is great significance in expanding their chemical structures and exploring advanced functions. Herein, we prepare a type [2]catenane‐cored based on the crosslinking polyethylene glycol (PEG) using heterometallic [2]catenane unit. By adjusting molecular weight PEG, solubility can be tuned gels are formed low PEG. introduction offers good antibacterial properties owing to synergistic antimicrobial activity Pt(II) Cu(I) ions [2]catenane. This study provides simple efficient strategy for constructing topological as materials, which will promote structural design biological applications networks.

The encapsulation of different guest molecules by their recognition domains proteins leads to selective binding, catalysis, and transportation. Synthetic hosts capable selectively binding guests in cavities mimic the function are highly desirable but challenging. Here, we report three ladder-shaped, triple-cavity metallacages prepared multicomponent coordination-driven self-assembly. Interestingly, porphyrin-based metallacage is heteroleptic fullerenes (C60 or C70) coronene using its cavities, allowing distinct allosteric upon addition C60 C70. Owing affinities one molecule central cavity two units side while encapsulating C70 cavity. rational design multicavity assemblies that enable will guide further advanced supramolecular constructs with tunable properties.

Abstract Chirality in confined nanospaces has brought some new insights into chirality transfer, amplification, and chiroptical properties. However, switching, which is a common phenomenon biological systems, never been realized environments. Herein, we report type of hexagonal metallacages that shows good host–guest interactions with ethoxy pillar[5]arene pillar[6]arene, as confirmed by single‐crystal X‐ray analysis. Importantly, when chiral pillar[5]arene‐based molecular universal joint (MUJ) used the guest, complexation would drive alkyl ring MUJ flip from outside to inside cavity its unit, enables configuration change along inversion MUJ. Moreover, facilitates transfer guests hosts, giving circularly polarized luminescence system. This study provides unique metallacage‐pillararene recognition motif for switching planar pillararenes, will promote construction systems tunable advanced applications.

Abstract Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and metal‐organic cages (MOCs) have garnered significant attention as promising photocatalysts due to their tunable chemical structures integrated multifunctionality. To increase the photocatalytic efficiency, strategies like ligand functionalization, introducing additional catalytic sites, doping or encapsulating photosensitizers been explored for both MOFs MOCs. This concept review focuses on recent advancements in utilizing MOCs hydrogen production, highlighting unique characteristics respective mechanisms this field. Moreover, it outlines current challenges prospects faced by MOCs, offering an outlook future domain.

The effect of host–guest interactions on the chemistry encapsulated molecules is a fascinating field research that has gained momentum in recent years. Much work this been focused such catalysis and photoluminescence dyes. However, related photoinduced processes, as photoregulated oxidase-mimicking activity, not explored much. Herein, we report unique example enhancement oxidase-like activity benzothiadiazole dye (G1) water through encapsulation within M8L4 molecular barrel (1). Favorable helped guest G1 to have better electron transfer oxygen leading increased production superoxide radical anions activity. Furthermore, inside 1 also caused change redox potentials which after produced oxidizing agent than free G1. These phenomena combined enhance upon cage 1. present demonstrates processes.

The concept of pore space partition has emerged as an effective strategy for developing improved coordination-based supramolecular porous materials with exceptional performance. Herein, we report that a water-soluble self-assembled tetrahedral cage 1 partitioned cavity shown excellent performance multifunctional extractant. results show this unique can efficiently separate halogenated adamantanes, adamantane isomers, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Furthermore, the influence cavity-partitioned on electrochemical properties redox-active molecules electrochemically driven reversible host-guest process also been demonstrated. findings offer valuable insights into design development new type controlled phase separation tailored properties.
