The present study aimed to investigate the associations of cholecystectomy with low muscle mass, strength, sarcopenia, and sarcopenic obesity. This population-based included data from 4,909 participants aged 18 80 years. History was diagnosed using abdominal ultrasonography. Muscle mass evaluated a dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry scan, strength an electronic hand dynamometer. Sarcopenia defined as presence both strength. Sarcopenic obesity sarcopenia obesity. Multivariable logistic regression models were performed obesity.Participants history more likely than those without have sarcopenia. Furthermore, compared that occurred within 7 years (7 is median interval between physical examination), ago had higher odds Finally, whether by BMI or body fat percentage, positively associated obesity.Cholecystectomy

Sarcopenic obesity is defined as the coexistence of sarcopenia and in same individual, characterized by co-presence body fat accumulation muscle loss. This condition currently a major concern it associated with frailty disabilities such cardiovascular disease, fractures, dementia, cancer, increased all-cause mortality. Particularly, older individuals remain at risk sarcopenic obesity. Progress several levels needed to improve global prognostic outlook for this condition, including elaboration implementation more uniform definition that may favor identification specification prevalence age group. Furthermore, improvements understanding pathogenesis lead development specific therapeutic interventions prognosis. We reviewed knowledge on its associations diseases

Sarcopenia is an age-related disease and often accompanied by other diseases. Now, many studies have shown that cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) may raise the incidence rate of sarcopenia. Therefore, purpose this study was to conduct a systematic review meta-analysis investigate prevalence sarcopenia in patients with CVDs compared general population, defined as relatively healthy non-hospitalized subjects. The databases PubMed, Embase, Medline Web Science were searched for eligible published up 12 November 2022. Two assessment tools used evaluate quality risk bias. Statistical analysis conducted using STATA 14.0 R Version 4.1.2. Thirty-eight out 89 629 articles retrieved included our review. ranged from 10.1% 68.9% CVDs, pooled 35% (95% confidence interval [95% CI]: 28-42%). 32% CI: 23-41%) chronic heart failure (CHF), 61% 49-72%) acute decompensated (ADHF), 43% 2-85%) coronary artery disease, 30% 25-35%) cardiac arrhythmia (CA), 10-59%) congenital 12% 7-17%) unclassed CVDs. SummarySarcopenic obesity (SO) is defined as the combination of excess fat mass (obesity) and low skeletal muscle function (sarcopenia). The identification classification factors related to SO would favor better prevention diagnosis. present article aimed (i) define a list with based on literature analysis, (ii) identify clinical conditions linked development from search (iii) evaluate their relevance potential research gaps by consulting an expert panel. From 4746 articles screened, 240 were selected for extraction associated SO. Factors classified according frequency in literature. Clinical also recorded. Then, they evaluated panel evaluation development. Experts suggested additional factors.Thirty-nine unique extracted papers eleven experts field. showed insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, lack exercise training, inflammation hypertension most frequent whereas ranked spontaneous physical activity, protein energy intakes, training aging important.Although presented some differences, this first could help patients at risk Further work needed confirm contribution among population overtime or randomized controlled trials demonstrate causality.

Muscle quality index (MQI), an emerging health index, is calculated by dividing handgrip strength skeletal muscle mass. Current evidence on the correlation between MQI and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), insulin resistance (IR) limited. This work aims to study that correlation. involves a cross-sectional analysis data from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) during period 2011 2014. To explore MQI, IR T2DM, multivariate logistic regression, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, subgroup analysis, restricted cubic spline regression were employed. A total of 2816 American adults enrolled in this study, among whom 1264 (44.9%) had IR, 300 (10.7%) T2DM. Logistic RCS analyses showed significant negative linearly prevalence (OR = 0.708, 95%=0.514, 0.976) T2DM 0.676, 95%CI 0.472, 0.969). Subgroup further revealed stronger individuals with obesity. ROC compared grip strength, (AUC 0.679 for 0.688 T2DM) can serve as more reliable identification factor provides decreased levels are correlated increased risk indicating potential utility marker identifying

Aging is associated with body composition changes that include a reduction of muscle mass or sarcopenia and an increase in visceral obesity. Thus, aging involves muscle-fat imbalance shift toward more fat less muscle. Therefore, sarcopenic obesity, defined as combination global health phenomenon due to the increased population combined epidemic Previous studies have shown inconsistent association between obesity risk cardiovascular disease (CVD).To systematically review recent literature on CVD risks summarizes ways diagnosis prevention.A systematic reported accordance Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) recommendations.Risk factors included genetic factors, aging, malnutrition, sedentary lifestyle, hormonal deficiencies other molecular changes. The association between skeletal muscle mass and diabetes incidence/insulin resistance/glycated hemoglobin (HbA1C) is unknown. aim of this study was to investigate such in clinically apparently healthy males females.A cross-sectional 372,399 Korean females who completed bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) a health-screening programme performed. Skeletal index used as an indicator mass. (%) [appendicular (kg)/body weight (kg)X100] estimated using BIA. outcomes were incidence, homoeostasis model assessment insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), HbA1C.The mean age participants 38.92 ± 8.54 years. Multiple logistic regression revealed significant negative incidence/HOMA-IR/HbA1C after adjusting for various confounding factors. Odds ratios (95% confidence interval (CI)) incidence Q2, Q3, Q4 compared the lowest quantile (Q1) 0.95 (0.85-1.05), 0.88 (0.78-0.99), 0.79 (0.69-0.9), respectively. Diabetes mellitus prevalence increases with increasing age. In older people diabetes, frailty is a newly emerging and significant complication. Frailty induces body composition changes that influence the metabolic state affect diabetes trajectory. appears to have wide spectrum, which can present an anorexic malnourished phenotype sarcopenic obese phenotype. The individuals loss of muscle mass increased visceral fat. This characterised by insulin resistance synergistic increase in cardiovascular risk more than induced obesity or sarcopenia alone. Therefore, this phenotype, trajectory accelerated, needs further intensification hypoglycaemic therapy focus on reduction. Anorexic weight reduced resistance. decelerated, deintensification symptom control quality life. early use sodium-glucose transporter-2 inhibitors glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists reasonable due their cardio-renal protection properties. long-acting analogues gain anabolic properties, regimen simplicity convenience once-daily administration.
