Cannabis use has been indicated as a risk factor for suicide in veterans. This study of Gulf War veterans tested the relationship between self-report past year cannabis and (a) suicidal ideation (b) behavior. Data were from national sample (N = 1126) Logistic regression models was associated with elevated behavior, independent key covariates. In corroboration research on other military populations, this indicates potentially concerning association

Background There are well-established literatures documenting the associations between mental disorders and unhealthy behaviors such as poor diet quality, sedentary behavior, cannabis tobacco use. Few studies have attempted to understand respective findings in light of each other, however. Objective The purpose this review was assemble comparable data for behavior-disorder association assess terms their overall strength. aimed include a representative, but not exhaustive, range that would allow explorative comparisons. Methods Eligible were identified via Pubmed searches citation searching, restricted publications no older than 2015 written English. To obtain data, only reported odds ratios included, risk bias related study samples, behavioral measurement disparities, control variables assessed sensitivity analyses. Findings disorder compared on basis different measures central tendency. Results From 3,682 records, 294 included. found evidence four psychosis, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity (ADHD), post-traumatic stress (PTSD), while personality investigated relation In comparison, generally similar strength, use exceptional being significantly stronger its counterparts across behaviors. Analyses some influence from disparities lack adequate statistical control, robust Conclusion This comparative about equally strongly associated with disorders. Given general nature these associations, we should probably them reflect shared etiology. However, be regarded tentative until confirmed by more comprehensive investigations.

Objective: Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) have varying pharmacological actions with differential effects on acute extended affective states, incuding anxiety. We aimed to study these anxiety in legal market forms of cannabis. Method: This makes use a nonequivalent control group quasiexperimental design. Forty-two participants symptions who were not using cannabis compared 258 symptoms used flower (∼3–4 times per week). Participants randomly assigned one three conditions; THC-dominant (24% THC, <1% CBD), THC+CBD (12% 12% or CBD-dominant (<1% 24% CBD). Changes over 4-weeks measured by the Patient Global Impression Change (PGIC) scale Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale (DASS). Acute changes subjective mood immediately after Profile Mood States (POMS) Elation, Tension, Paranoia subscales Addiction Research Center Inventory intoxication scale. Results: While all reported reductions 4-week PGIC (F=30.65, p<0.001) DASS measures (F=115.88, p<0.001), ad libitum was associated lower scores subscale when accounting for frequency (difference=−1.03, SE=0.45, p=0.02). Similarly, POMS tension paranoia (POMS tension: vs. THC-dominant: difference=−0.41 SE=0.1, p<0.001; THC+CBD: difference=−0.28, SE=0.07, p=0.04; paranoia: difference=−0.49, difference=−0.33, SE=0.09, p=0.01). conditions experienced positive drug effects. Conclusions: provides novel information impacts ratios THC CBD indviduals symptoms. Findings suggest that did increase reduction may translate longer-term Clinical Trial Registration: NCT03491384.

The discovery of cannabinoid receptors as the primary molecular targets psychotropic Δ9 -tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9 -THC) in late 1980s paved way for investigations on effects cannabis-based therapeutics brain pathology. Ever since, a wealth results obtained from studies human tissue samples and animal models have highlighted promising therapeutic potential cannabinoids endocannabinoids variety neurological disorders. However, clinical success has been limited major questions concerning endocannabinoid signaling need to be satisfactorily addressed, particularly with regard their role modulators glial cells neurodegenerative diseases. Indeed, recent brought into limelight diverse, often unexpected functions astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, microglia injury disease, thus providing scientific basis targeting treat This Review summarizes current knowledge cellular hallmarks its relevance chronic inflammatory

Emotion dysregulation (ED) is a transdiagnostic variable that accounts for the onset and maintenance of mental health disorders. The interplay between ED, cannabis use has not been appraised in young adult population whether there are sex-dependent effects yet to be examined. This study looked at ED mediates association past-month health, while considering sex as moderator.2,762 (64.2% women) undergraduate Spanish students completed an online battery. Among others, they fulfilled Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21) Difficulties Regulation Scale (DERS-28). A two-way ANOVA assessed on participants' DASS-21 scores. set moderated mediations tested indirect effect through DERS differed by sex.Past-month female users showed higher levels depression, anxiety stress (M = 51.10, SD 26.72) than did men [(M 33.76, 20.31); F(1, 2758) 5.119, p =.024, η2p =.002]. In adults only, was mediated (total score), non-acceptance emotional responses, lack control, difficulties engaging goal-directed behavior, clarity (all p's < 0.005) CONCLUSIONS: Findings indicate importance assessment intervention practices. Interventions targeting may particularly effective users.

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is composed of the two canonical receptor subtypes; type-1 cannabinoid (CB1R) and type 2 (CB2R), endocannabinoids (eCBs) enzymes responsible for synthesis degradation eCBs. Recently, with identification additional lipid mediators, receptors, expanded ECS called endocannabinoidome (eCBome) has been identified recognized. Activation CB1R associated a plethora physiological effects some central nervous (CNS) side effects, whereas, CB2R activation devoid such hence CB2Rs might be utilized as potential new targets treatment different disorders including neuropsychiatric disorders. Previous studies suggested that were absent in brain they considered peripheral however, recent confirmed presence regions. Several have now focused on characterization its pathological roles. Studies done role therapeutic target treating revealed important putative requires further clinical validation. Here we provide current insights knowledge targeting neurodegenerative Its non-psychoactive effect makes CNS disorders; better understanding fundamental pharmacology essential design novel strategies.
