This article advocates for mobilizing pathogen genomic surveillance to contain and mitigate health threats from infectious diseases antimicrobial resistance (AMR), building upon successes achieved by large-scale genome sequencing analysis of SARS-CoV-2 variants in guiding COVID-19 monitoring public responses adopting a One Health approach. Capabilities laboratory-based epidemic alert systems should be enhanced fostering (i) universal access real-time whole sequence (WGS) data pathogens inform clinical practice, infection control, policies, vaccine drug research development; (ii) integration diagnostic microbiology data, testing asymptomatic individuals, epidemiological into programs; (iii) stronger cross-sectorial collaborations between healthcare, health, animal environmental using approaches, toward understanding the ecology transmission pathways AMR across ecosystems; (iv) international collaboration interconnection networks, harmonization laboratory methods, standardization methods global reporting, including on variant or strain nomenclature; (v) responsible sharing databases, platforms according FAIR (findability, accessibility, interoperability, reusability) principles; (vi) system implementation its cost-effectiveness different settings. Regional policies governance initiatives foster concerted development efficient utilization protect humans, animals, environment.

The Mpox virus (MPXV), a zoonotic pathogen from the Orthopoxvirus genus, has emerged as significant global public health concern, especially after unprecedented outbreak in 2022. This review synthesizes MPXV’s molecular features, focusing on its genomic structure, replication mechanisms, immune evasion strategies, and implications for diagnostics therapeutics. study examines virus’s organization utilizing recent peer-reviewed literature, highlighting essential genes like OPG027 D1L, which contribute to host adaptation, increased transmissibility, evasion. Advances diagnostics, including real-time PCR genome sequencing, are reviewed, emphasizing their critical role monitoring control. However, challenges persist, such diagnostic limitations resource-constrained settings lack of targeted vaccines antivirals. discusses new antiviral candidates, confirmed through computational vitro techniques, identifying thymidine kinase VP39 key therapeutic targets. Emphasizing need surveillance track adaptive evolution, results show that particular mutations, D1L genes, increase transmissibility MPXV. These revelations highlight urgent necessity better catered towards addressing present constraints developing focused treatments reduce effect virus. emphasizes how these underscore combined plans handle changing MPXV epidemiology properly.

The resurgence of the monkeypox virus (MPXV), a zoonotic Orthopoxvirus historically regarded as endemic to tropical rainforests Central and West Africa, represents significant evolving global health challenge. Waning immunity following cessation smallpox vaccination inequitable vaccine access have increased susceptibility, especially in resource-limited settings. Combined with urbanization, environmental degradation, travel, human-wildlife interactions, these factors driven MPXV beyond its traditional regions. Notably, recent outbreaks non-endemic countries exhibited distinct epidemiological shift, higher incidence among men who sex men, often absence travel history areas, underscoring transmission dynamics. This review provides comprehensive examination MPXV’s epidemiology, clinical features, mechanisms, highlighting complexities containment. Key challenges—including surveillance gaps, inequities, limited diagnostics therapeutics—are compounded by unresolved controversies over natural reservoirs respiratory transmissibility, well critical research gaps spillover mechanisms long-term immunity. Addressing issues demands collaboration leverage next-generation vaccines antivirals, paired an integrated public response: enhanced surveillance, targeted education, equitable resource allocation. Sustaining efforts is vital curbing preventing entrenchment threat.

Monkeypox(mpox) is a zoonotic disease caused by the monkeypox virus (MPXV), which was previously endemic to West and Central Africa. However, it has recently appeared in several non-endemic countries beyond On July 23, 202 WHO declared mpox outbreak public health emergency of international concern, declaration reaffirmed on August 14, 2024. In this context, understanding antibody levels MPXV population become crucial, especially given historical cross-protection provided smallpox vaccination. To provide comprehensive overview current protective efficacy vaccination, we conducted review existing literature. We reviewed relevant studies published peer-reviewed journals from 1958 2025, focusing those that reported research antibodies effects Here, progress virus(VARV) epidemiology, etiology, mutation mechanism infection, clinical characteristics vaccine application. addition, differences different populations cross-protective effect against were also discussed. Our indicates are closely related level immunity population, particularly among individuals who have received This narrative aims synthesize evidence role vaccination protecting offer evidence-based guidance for policy. aim establish theoretical foundation practical recommendations future prevention strategies.

Abstract Mpox is a zoonotic illness caused by the virus (MPXV), member of Orthopoxvirus family. Although few cases have been reported outside Africa, it was originally regarded as an endemic disease limited to African countries. However, outbreak 2022 remarkable in that infection spread more than 123 countries worldwide, causing thousands infections and deaths. The ongoing has declared public health emergency international concern World Health Organization. For better management control epidemic, this review summarizes research advances important scientific findings on MPXV reviewing current literature epidemiology, clinical characteristics, diagnostic methods, prevention treatment measures, animal models MPXV. This provides useful information raise awareness about transmission, symptoms, protective measures MPXV, serving theoretical guide for relevant institutions
