Abstract Rising rates of suicide fatality, attempts, and ideations among adolescents aged 10–19 over the past two decades represent a national public health priority. Theories that seek to understand suicidal ideation overwhelmingly focus on transition from attempt sole cognition: active – serious consideration killing one’s self, with less attention non-suicidal cognitions emerge during adolescence may have implications for behavior. A large body research exists characterizes not only as period heightened onset prevalence desire no longer be alive (i.e., passive ideation), but also about life death. Our review synthesizes extant literature in content, timing mental imagery thoughts their (1) life; (2) mortality co-occur received limited adolescent suicidology. “cognition-to-action framework prevention” builds existing ideation-to-action theories identify potential leverage points prevention attempted premature death this across span.

About half of all adolescents with major depressive disorder (MDD) have frequent suicidal thoughts and those ideations, about one-third attempt suicide. Identifying clinical characteristics associated ideation attempts is important for suicide prevention care. Participants were four groups diagnosed MDD (n = 246, 180 females): (a) non-suicidal youths 76), (b) ideators 102; current ideation), (c) ideator-attempters 56; lifetime history attempt), (d) attempters 12; no but attempt). Adolescents underwent interviews completed questionnaires assessing sociodemographic variables. Multivariate analyses variance, logistic regression models, mediation moderation run to assess which variables group membership. Suicidal ideators, irrespective whether they had attempted previously, higher depression severity, anxiety lower resilience compared non-ideators. Hopelessness was greater odds being a ideator (p < .001, OR 1.18) or an ideator-attempter 0.036, 1.13) than youth. Attempter-ideators engaged more often in self-harm behavior 0.046, 1.45). Ideator-attempters experienced childhood maltreatment, hopelessness mediating the relationship between maltreatment ideation. Self-harm moderated probability having made attempt. Only cross-sectional data included, based mostly on self-report measures. are increases while linked behavior. Treatment might be effective strategy young people depression. www.ClinicalTrials.gov, identifier (NCT03167307).

One factor affecting result is adolescent COVID-19. This study examines status Korean amid prolonged pandemic, identifies analyzes predictors ideation, planning, attempts. Methods used data from 54,948 who participated 2020 Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey. Based on their responses suicide-related questions, sample was divided into healthy group, suicide-ideation suicide-planning suicide-attempt group. descriptive statistics these groups were then analyzed. An analysis covariance, post-hoc tests, multiple logistic regression performed four groups. Results Overall, 6.9% participants reported 2.2% planning suicide, 1.9% attempting previous 12 months. Conclusions During there strong need various individualized programs that identify intervene support at accurately assessing factors, such as stress, sadness despair, loneliness, generalized disorder. Abstract Objective This study investigated differences in mental health and well-being, risk behaviors, social life factors among adolescents who experienced different forms of suicidality. Methods We examined 18-years-olds the Danish National Birth Cohort ( N = 47,852). Suicidality was defined with mutually exclusive categories ranging from no suicidality, self-reported suicide ideation, plans, attempt as well hospital-recorded attempt. The proportion poor were compared across Sample weights applied. Results Depressive symptoms reported by 14% (95% CI 13%;14%) girls 44% 43%;45%) 68% 65%;72%) 66% 60%;72%) or respectively. Among boys, depressive 5% 4%;5%) those 27% 26%;28%) 51% 45%;57%) 40% 22%;58%) Likewise, other aspects well-being gradually increased relative more severe while notable identified between Similar tendencies observed for behaviors factors. Conclusion These findings suggest that including large ideation only, faces challenges several parameters behavior, emphasizes need community-based interventions to identify support group experiencing both less Clinicians should prioritize comprehensive psychiatric intervention address complex needs suicidal effectively.

The significantly varied capability. While adolescents higher rates at increasing levels capability, faster change observed among ideation.Capability may heighten risk attempts youth, suggesting that treatment efforts could be directed reducing exposure painful provocative experiences associated behaviors.
