The diagnosis of major depressive disorder (MDD) is commonly based on the subjective evaluation by experienced psychiatrists using clinical scales. Hence, it particularly important to find more objective biomarkers aid in and further treatment. Alpha-band activity (7-13 Hz) most prominent component resting electroencephalogram (EEG), which also thought be a potential biomarker. Recent studies have shown existence multiple sub-oscillations within alpha band, with distinct neural underpinnings. However, specific contribution these treatment MDD remains unclear. In this study, we recorded resting-state EEG from HC populations both open closed-eye state conditions. We assessed cognitive processing MATRICS Consensus Cognitive Battery (MCCB). found that group showed significantly higher power high range (10.5–11.5 lower low (7–8.5 compared group. Notably, negatively correlated working memory performance MCCB, whereas no such correlation was Furthermore, five established classification algorithms, discovered combining oscillations MCCB scores as features yielded highest accuracy or alone. Our results demonstrate frequency band When combined psychological scales, they may provide guidance relevant for MDD.

Background The pursuit of sleep quality has become an important aspect people’s global quest for overall health. However, the objective neurobiological features corresponding to subjective perceptions remain poorly understood. Although previous studies have investigated relationship between electroencephalogram (EEG) and sleep, lack longitudinal follow-up raises doubts about reproducibility their findings. Objective Currently, there is a gap in research regarding stable associations EEG data assessed through multiple collection sessions, which could help identify potential targets related quality. Methods In this study, we used portable device collect resting-state prefrontal cortex over 3-month period from 42 participants (27 first month, 25 second 40 third month). Each participants’ was using Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) estimate recent Results We found that significant consistent positive correlation low α band activity PSQI scores (r=0.45, P<.001). More importantly, remained across all recordings (P<.05), regardless whether considered same cohort or expanded sample size. Furthermore, discovered periodic component primarily contributed association with PSQI. Conclusions These findings represent identification reliable target sessions. Our results provide solid foundation future applications devices monitoring screening disorders broad population.

In recent years, brainprint recognition has emerged as a novel method of personal identity verification. Although studies have demonstrated the feasibility this technology, some limitations hinder its further development into society, such insufficient efficiency (extended wear time for multi-channel EEG cap), complex experimental paradigms (more in learning and completing experiments), unclear neurobiological characteristics (lack intuitive biomarkers an inability to eliminate impact noise on individual differences). Overall, these are due incomplete understanding underlying neural mechanisms. Therefore, study aims investigate mechanisms behind brainwave simplify operation process. We recorded prefrontal resting-state data from 40 participants, which is followed up over nine months using single-channel portable device. found that devices can effectively stably capture different subjects alpha band (8-13Hz) long periods, well capturing their differences (no peak, 1 or 2 peaks). Through correlation analysis, alpha-band activity reveal uniqueness compared others within one minute. used descriptive model dissect oscillatory non-oscillatory components band, demonstrating contributions fine features (especially amplitude bandwidth). Background Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a pervasive mental health issue with significant diagnostic challenges. Electroencephalography (EEG) offers non-invasive window into the neural dynamics associated MDD, yet efficacy contingent upon appropriate selection of EEG features and brain regions. Methods In this study, resting-state signals from both eyes-closed eyes-open conditions were analyzed. We examined band power across various regions, assessed asymmetry between hemispheres, integrated these clinical characteristics MDD regression model. Results Regression analysis found predictors to be beta2 (16–24 Hz) in Prefrontal Cortex (PFC) eyes open ( B = 20.092, p 0.011), beta3 (24–40 Medial Occipital (MOC) −12.050, < 0.001), Right Frontal (RMFC) closed 24.227, 0.001). Asymmetries beta1 (12–16 28.047, 0.018), alpha (8–12 Hz, 9.004, 0.013) theta (4–8 −13.582, 0.008) also predictors. Conclusion The study confirms potential multi-region improving precision for MDD. By including neurophysiological data, we present more robust approach understanding identifying complex disorder. Limitations research limited by sample size inherent variability signal interpretation. Future studies larger cohorts advanced analytical techniques are warranted validate refine findings.

ABSTRACT Background Anesthesia is featured by behavioral and physiological characteristics such as decreased sensory motor function, loss of consciousness, etc. Some anesthetics dexmedetomidine (DEX), induce electroencephalogram signatures close to non‐rapid eye movement sleep. Studies have shown that sleep primarily driven the activation subcortical sleep‐promoting neural pathways. Aims However, neuronal level electrophysiology features anesthesia how they differ from still not fully understood. Materials Methods In present study, we recorded activity simultaneously somatosensory cortex (S1) (M1) during awake, sleep, DEX‐induced in rats. Results The results show DEX increased local field potential (LFP) power across a relatively wide band (1–25 Hz) both S1 M1. coherence between LFP M1 significantly delta alpha bands. Power spectrum analysis revealed high bands, but low theta beta Overall, firing rate individual neurons after DEX. Correlation indicate more were correlated, either positively or negatively, with LFPs compared Discussion Although these showed enhancement cortical different patterns spike‐field correlation suggest two states may be regulated mechanisms. Conclusion Distinguishing oscillations could lead personalized, safer, effective approaches managing consciousness medical settings, for broad applications neuroscience clinical practice.
