Zinc (Zn) is a vital micronutrient that strengthens the immune system, aids cellular activities, and treats infectious diseases. A deficiency in Zn can lead to an imbalance system. This particularly evident severe cases, where there high susceptibility various viral infections, including COVID-19 caused by SARS-CoV-2. review article examines nutritional roles of human health, maintenance concentration, uptake. As essential trace element plays critical role system necessary for cell function signaling, cells, interleukins, its SARS-CoV-2 infection are further discussed. In summary, this paper encapsulates with hope providing specific insights into research.

Free zinc is considered to be the exchangeable and biological active form of in serum, discussed a suitable biomarker for alterations body homeostasis related diseases. Given that coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) characterized by marked decrease total serum zinc, clinical data indicate status impacts susceptibility severity infection, we hypothesized free might altered response SARS-CoV-2 infection may reflect severity. To test this hypothesis, concentrations samples survivors nonsurvivors COVID-19 were analyzed fluorometric microassay. Similar reported deficit measured reflection X-ray fluorescence, patients was considerably lower than control subjects, surviving displayed significantly higher levels those (mean ± SD; 0.4 0.2 nM vs. 0.1 nM; p = 0.0004). In contrast recovering (r 0.706, < 0.001) or declining copper−zinc ratio −0.646; 0.001), remained unaltered with time nonsurvivors. particularly low male as compared female 0.0003). The COVID-19 pandemic has led to severe financial, clinical, and societal repercussions imposed more pressure on the healthcare system of many nations. impacts immune by causing a systemic inflammatory reaction, often known as cytokine release syndrome (CRS). patients had elevated levels pro-inflammatory cytokines chemokines. In this context, dietary interventions have been utilized mitigate adverse effects regulating excessive secretion Zinc, an anti-inflammatory antioxidant mineral in food with well-established role immunity, is now being employed several clinical studies against COVID-19. Zn deficiency correlated increased production cytokines. As result, we will summarise zinc's immunomodulatory article. We investigate how zinc might contribute poor prognosis disease altering particular

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about diverse impacts on the global population. Individuals with comorbidities were more susceptible to severe symptoms caused by virus. Within crisis scenario, metabolomics represents a potential area of science capable providing relevant information for understanding metabolic pathways associated intricate interaction between viral disease and previous comorbidities. This work aims provide comprehensive description scientific production pertaining within specific context comorbidities, while highlighting promising areas exploration those interested in subject. In this review, we highlighted studies that indicated variety metabolites COVID-19. Furthermore, observed processes involved is limited due urgent need report outcomes individuals overlap two or severity hinders comprehension significance each condition. Most identified are observational, restricted number patients, challenges sample collection amidst emergent situation.

In this review, our objective was to analyze the association between serum magnesium (Mg) levels, Mg supplementation, and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outcomes. This systematic review followed Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, searching major databases until February 2023. Twenty-six studies (11,363 patients) were included: 22 examining levels (8474 four investigating supplementations (2889 patients). Most indicated an lower increased COVID-19 severity, including higher mortality rates prolonged recovery periods. Critical patients demonstrated significantly compared moderate/severe cases. However, some reported conflicting findings, with hypermagnesemia also associated poor outcomes in specific patient populations. Regarding dietary intake correlated shorter hospitalization duration faster recovery. supplementation exceeding 450 mg showed potential benefits, antibody titers pregnant women reduced oxygen support requirements elderly when combined vitamins D B12. While evidence suggests a relationship status outcomes, findings are heterogeneous. Further investigation through well-designed clinical trials is required gain deeper insights into role of pathophysiology therapeutic supplementation.
