Caring for patients in the outpatient setting is a significant part of many physicians' responsibilities due to healthcare's shift from inpatient settings. Outpatient care complex and characterized by longitudinal relationships among all who work this setting, including patients. There recognition need enhance graduate medical education specifically situated setting. Considering that good educational practices be grounded theoretical principles, aim conceptual article analyze explain learning through critical appraisal selected theories. Four theories were explore residents' relation characteristics setting: 1) Cultural-Historical Activity Theory, 2) Situated Learning 3) Cognitive Development Theory 4) Self-regulated Theory. Abstract Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory (VST) has been increasingly utilised as an effective framework to account for the role of emotions in learning and development. Yet, within VST, emotion neither systemically theorised nor investigated. This paper contributes literature by offering a theoretical discussion perspective on its relation cognition. Employing content analysis approach, three key texts were closely read analysed with emerging themes grouped into system interrelated tenets. The insights gained from this benefit scholars who are interested understanding researching VST well provide important implications educational practices.

Abstract Background The learning assistant (LA) model supports student success in undergraduate science courses; however, variation outcomes has led to a call for more work investigating how the LA is implemented. In this research, we used cultural historical activity theory (CHAT) characterize three different instructors set up LA-facilitated classrooms and LAs’ understanding development of their practices was shaped by classroom activity. CHAT sociocultural framework that provides structured approach studying complex systems directed toward specific objects. It conceptualizes change within these as expansive learning, which experiencing contradiction leads internalization critical self-reflection, then externalization search solutions change. Results Through analyzing two semi-structured retrospective interviews from professors eleven LAs, found implemented differed based on STEM instructors’ pedagogical goals. Each instructor leveraged interactions further tasked LAs with emotionally supporting students grapple content confusions safe environment; all had rules divisions labor were influenced perspectives objects class. For they multiple, sometimes conflicting, motives can be described either practical, what day-to-day job, or sense-making, made sense reason work. Relationships with music are at the core of education. However, they rarely studied from learners viewpoints—especially those exceptionally motivated, advanced students—as incorporated into theoretical underpinning or methodological stance research in instrumental In this project we follow musical lives ten advanced, mastery-oriented adolescent instrumentalists. The focus first report our narrative ethnography is on how their relationships manifest written narratives role and instrument learning life. While corroborating findings previous research, results demonstrate many idiosyncracies trajectories participants, including critical events. show that studying development may reveal complex ecological systems interconnected concepts, such as self-regulation, self-efficacy, agency, autonomy, identity, metacognition. These phenomena—which can be challenging to differentiate, adapt, apply terms practices—may seem far-removed everyday practices, but consolidated when looking gateways instruments.
