Research reports positive associations between gaming disorder (GD) in adolescents and loot box purchasing but has not examined this relationship for other types of simulated gambling. This study whether greater engagement expenditure three gambling were associated with meeting the criteria GD adolescents. A sample Australians aged 12-17 years (N=826) was recruited through an online panel aggregator. It included 646 gamers (57.7% male) 89 being classified as having past-year GD, defined measured by Internet Gaming Disorder Scale. Independent variables comprised past-month activities (games ‘mini’ components, social casino games, boxes), purchasing, microtransactions, impulsiveness, demographics. Logistic regressions first each individually then all same model, controlling demographic impulsivity. also microtransactions boxes both Adolescents who had engaged activity past month more likely to report GD. In this digital age, where parental attention is often diverted by engagement, the phenomenon of “parental phubbing,” defined as parents ignoring their children in favor mobile devices, scrutinized for its potential impact on child development. This study, utilizing questionnaire data from 612 and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with moderated mediation, examines association between phubbing young children’s electronic media use. The findings revealed a correlation increased use children. Parent–child conflict, informed instances phubbing, was identified partial mediator relation. Notably, emotion regulation emerged moderating factor, adept linked to reduced adverse effects improved relational harmony. These underscore importance awareness behaviors benefits fostering robust parent–child relationships supporting emotional nurture well-adjusted “digital citizens” contemporary landscape.

Background Parental technoference, the interruption of parent-child interactions by technology, has been associated with negative outcomes in children’s media use. However, magnitude this relationship and its moderating factors remain unclear. Objective This study aims to systematically examine between parental technoference child problematic use, as well identify such age, group, design, type Methods Following PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses) guidelines, a comprehensive literature search was conducted up August 2024 across multiple databases, including Web Science, EBSCO, ProQuest, PubMed, PsycINFO, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, using predefined strings. A total 53 studies 60,555 participants (mean age 13.84, SD 1.18 years) were included. Inclusion criteria comprised involving children under 22 years, assessing association use valid measures, reporting necessary statistical data. Exclusion included focusing on other outcomes, having sample sizes <30, or being case reports review papers. The risk bias assessed Quality Assessment Tool Observational Cohort Cross-Sectional Studies. random-effects meta-analysis performed R (version 4.2.1; Foundation Statistical Computing) meta metafor packages evaluate conduct moderator analyses. Results identified significant positive (r=0.296, 95% CI 0.259-0.331). Moderator analyses revealed that both group (P<.001) design (P=.008) significantly influenced relationship. Specifically, stronger when parents engaged compared only 1 parent did, cross-sectional longitudinal studies. Age, gender, publication status, did not moderate (all P>.05). Conclusions provides robust evidence findings highlight need family-based interventions underscore importance research understand temporal dynamics better. Parental phubbing refers to the phenomenon where parents ignore their children due mobile phone use during parent-child interactions. This study examined longitudinal mediating role of basic psychological need satisfaction in relations between parental and adolescents’ core self-evaluation. We recruited 629 adolescents ( M age = 15.20 years, SD 1.62 years) participate our survey. Longitudinal mediation analyses revealed that negatively predicted adolescents' self-evaluation by diminishing satisfaction. Additionally, network identified two significant behaviors impact self-evaluation: keeping phones hand interactions with checking information mealtime. Our work provides a novel understanding on how decreases adolescent

A study, with data collected at two time points over a six-month interval to test proposed hypotheses. The independent variable was measured Time 1 (T1), while mediators dependent variables were assessed 2 (T2). total 591 middle school students from city in central China recruited complete scale, depletion scale addiction scale. Introduction: Parental phubbing refers to the act of parents using mobile phones in presence their children instead engaging with them. With increasing smartphone use many households, parental is a potential threat children's healthy development. This meta-analysis synthesized existing evidence on impact social-emotional development examine effect sizes and identify moderators. Methods: Following PRISMA guidelines, we conducted systematic search across multiple electronic databases (Web Science, EBSCO, ProQuest, Springer, China National Knowledge Infrastructure) from 2012 May 2023. Our included both English Chinese literature, encompassing published journal articles as well thesis. To assess risk bias, utilized Quality Assessment Tool for Observational Cohort Cross-Sectional Studies. Publication bias was evaluated funnel plot interpretation Egger's regression intercept. Results: comprehensive identified 42 studies 56,275 59 sizes. A random-effects revealed that positively associated internalizing problems ( r = 0.270; 95% CI [0.234, 0.304]) externalizing 0.210; [0.154, 0.264]), while negatively correlated self-concept − 0.206; [− 0.244, 0.168]) competence 0.162; 0.207, 0.120]). Furthermore, group moderated association between problems, when engage phubbing, there stronger compared only one parent phubbing. Discussion: The findings this provide strong supporting detrimental effects child adjustment. Consequently, parents, researchers, government must collaborate mitigate promote abilities. Cross-sectional studies from Eastern Asia have indicated a positive association between parental phubbing (snubbing via smartphones) and adolescent problematic gaming (PG). Longitudinal research is needed to evaluate the specific impact of maternal paternal on PG in Europe. This study used two-wave longitudinal design (with six-month time interval) test theoretical model which at Wave 1 (W1) predicted 2 (W2), with indifference (W2) as mediators. Gender differences hypothesized associations were also explored. Data collected Italy online surveys, sample comprised 557 gamers (Mage = 15.62 ± 1.54; 69% males). The mediation was tested using path analysis, multi-group comparisons performed. results showed that increased both mothers fathers. Maternal indirectly males females, whereas directly only females.
