Antibiotics are a cornerstone of modern medicine, but antibiotic consumption can have depleting effects on the gut microbiota, potentially leading to gastrointestinal symptoms and other diseases, namely Clostridioides difficile infection. Because nutrition is major driver microbiota diversity function, here we explore current evidence potential diets in alleviate deleterious antibiotics consumed during infections.

Background/Objectives: With the increasing life expectancy and, as a result, aging of global population, there has been rise in prevalence chronic conditions, which can significantly impact individuals’ health-related quality life, multidimensional concept that comprises an individual’s physical, mental, and social wellbeing. While balanced, nutrient-dense diet, such Mediterranean is widely recognized for its role disease prevention, particularly reducing risk cardiovascular diseases certain cancers, potential benefits extend beyond these well-known effects, showing promise improving physical mental wellbeing, promoting life. Methods: A systematic search scientific literature electronic databases (Pubmed/Medline) was performed to identify potentially eligible studies reporting on relation between adherence diet published up December 2024. Results: total 28 were included this review, comprising 13 conducted among general population 15 involving various types patients. Overall, most showed significant association HRQoL, with results retrieved domains suggesting seems play relevant both people affected by conditions inflammatory basis. Conclusions: Adherence provides preventing managing commonly associated populations. Furthermore, it enhances overall health individuals, ultimately supporting more effective less invasive treatment approaches diseases.

Abstract The human gut microbiota influences its host via multiple molecular pathways, including immune system interactions, the provision of nutrients and regulation physiology. Dietary fibre plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy as primary nutrient energy source. Industrialisation has led to massive decrease habitual intake recent times, intakes across world are below national recommendations. This goes hand with other factors industrialised societies that may negatively affect microbiota, such medication increased hygiene. Non‐communicable diseases on rise urbanised optimisation dietary can help improve global health prevent disease. Early life interventions shape developing counteract malnutrition, both context nations an overabundance cheap, highly processed foods, well Low‐ Middle‐Income Countries (LMICs). Adequate should, however, be maintained course promote health. Here we will discuss current state research consider different intervention approaches.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the relation between adherence Mediterranean diet, adequacy Italian dietary recommendations, and several domains of diet quality in a sample adults. METHODS: The habits total 1936 participants were investigated. Adherence assessed through Medi-Lite Diet Quality Index-International (DQI-I). RESULTS: global DQI-I score positively correlated with score. Negative coefficients found for protein intake calcium category, fat moderation fatty acid ratio overall balance category. More than half adherent national recommendations potatoes, cereals, red meat, other fats consumption. In contrast, on legumes, fruit, vegetables, processed meat met by about while those dairy products (milk yogurt) cheese, eggs, white rather underrepresented. Higher scores well predicted fruit legumes. CONCLUSIONS: Individuals reporting higher show better probability meeting recommendations.

With growing recognition of the pivotal role gut microbiota in human health, probiotics have gained widespread attention for their potential to restore microbial homeostasis. However, a critical challenge persists: limited colonization efficiency among most probiotic strains compromises therapeutic efficacy. This overview synthesizes ecological principles with cutting-edge microbiome research elucidate dynamic interplay between dietary components and within intestinal niche. systematically analyzes: (1) stage-specific mechanisms spanning introduction, establishment, proliferation; (2) nutrient-driven modulation composition function; (3) dual common patterns as both facilitators disruptors persistence. Notably, this identifies key strategies, including precision delivery prebiotic fibers polyphenol-microbiota crosstalk, that enhance niche adaptation through pH optimization, adhesion potentiation, competitive exclusion pathogens. Furthermore, critically evaluates current limitations research, particularly strain-specific variability methodological constraints simulating host-microbe-diet tripartite interactions. To bridge these gaps, proposes an interdisciplinary framework integrating omics-driven strain selection, engineered systems, personalized nutrition models. Collectively, work advances mechanistic understanding diet-microbiota interactions while providing actionable insights developing targeted therapies evidence-based interventions optimize ecosystem resilience.

Mild cognitive impairment, dementia and osteoporosis are common diseases of ageing and, with the increasingly global population, increasing in prevalence. In this review, epidemiological mechanistic links between mild skeletal health explored. Discussion will focus on how changes brain bone signalling can underly associations these conditions, consider molecular cellular drivers context inflammation gut microbiome. There is a complex interplay nutritional changes, which may precede or follow onset impairment (MCI) dementia, health. Polypharmacy patients MCI there difficult prescribing decisions to be made due elevated falls associated many drugs used for problems, consequently increase fracture risk. Some medications prescribed directly impact addition, have difficulty remembering medication without assistance, meaning that but not taken. Cognitive improved delayed by physical activity exercise, evidence additional benefits fractures. Research gaps priorities aim reducing burden fractures people also discussed.
