Abstract
INTRODUCTION
The
Virginia
Memory
Project
(VMP)
is
a
statewide
epidemiological
registry
for
Alzheimer's
disease
and
related
disorders
(ADRD)
other
neurodegenerative
conditions.
It
aims
to
support
dementia
research,
policy,
care
by
leveraging
the
Centers
Disease
Control
(CDC)
Healthy
Brain
Initiative
(HBI)
Roadmap.
METHODS
To
capture
comprehensive
data,
VMP
integrates
self‐enrollment
automatic
enrollment
using
Virginia's
All‐Payer
Claims
Database
(APCD).
also
adapts
Behavioral
Risk
Factors
Surveillance
Survey
(BRFSS)
modules
self‐reported
cognitive
caregiving
offering
connections
clinical
services,
education.
RESULTS
successfully

investigate

knowledge,
attitudes,
and
practices
(KAP)
of
elderly
population
regarding
their
intrinsic
capacity,

The
American
Indian
and
Alaska
Native
(AI/AN)
population
is
increasing
AI/AN
people
are
living
longer
than
ever
before.
Although
aging-related
health
issues
such
as
cognitive
impairment,
dementia,
Alzheimer's
disease
(AD)
becoming
more
visible
among
this
population,
reliable
data
on
AD
prevalence
risk
factors
nearly
nonexistent.
Concurrently,
precision
medicine
(PM)
has
demonstrated
significant
potential
for
detecting
treating
diseases
AD.
For
PM
to
promote
equity
underserved
populations,
it
must
not
exacerbate
existing
disparities
bias
in
research.
There
also
little
information
about
preferences
communicating
regarding
AD,
PM,
or
recruitment
into
clinical
trials.
Communication
barriers
few
known
facilitators
contribute
low
rates
of
research
participation.
This
study
seeks
address
the
gaps
communities
knowledge
of,
attitudes
towards,
interest
participation
AD-related
efforts.
