Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is an essential nutrient for humans and animals. Metabolically active forms of B12-methylcobalamin 5-deoxyadenosylcobalamin are cofactors the enzymes methionine synthase mitochondrial methylmalonyl-CoA mutase. Malfunction these due to a scarcity vitamin leads disturbance one-carbon metabolism impaired function. A significant fraction population (up 20%) deficient in B12, with higher rate deficiency among elderly people. associated numerous hallmarks aging at cellular organismal levels. Cellular senescence characterized by high levels DNA damage metabolic abnormalities, increased dysfunction, epigenetic regulation. could be responsible or play crucial part disorders. In this review, we focus on comprehensive analysis molecular mechanisms through which influences aging. We review new data about how may accelerate Despite indications that has important role health healthy aging, knowledge influence still limited requires further research.

Although stress and adversity are largely universal experiences, people exposed to greater hardship at increased risk for negative health consequences. Recent studies identify accelerated biological aging as a mechanism that could explain how trauma gives rise poor health, advances in this area of study coincide with technological innovations the measurement aging, particularly epigenetic profiles consistent derived from DNA methylation. In review, we provide an overview current literature examining might accelerate specific focus on social behaviors. The most extensive evidence suggests health-compromising behaviors, smoking, may partially association between aging. there is relatively less published support role emerging points importance connection future study. Our review highlights need determine extent which associations causal processes. Healthcare professionals frequently experience significant work overload, which often leads to substantial physical and psychological stress. This stress is closely linked increased oxidative a corresponding decline in energy levels. scoping review investigates the potential impact of dietary antioxidants food supplements conjunction with diet controlling these negative effects. Through an analysis biochemical pathways involved metabolism, paper emphasizes effectiveness targeted interventions. Key antioxidants, such as vitamins C E, polyphenols, carotenoids, are evaluated for their ability counteract enhance Additionally, assesses various supplements, including omega-3 fatty acids, coenzyme Q10, ginseng, mechanisms action enhancement. Practical guidelines incorporating energy-boost strategies into routine healthcare provided, emphasizing importance modifications reducing improving overall well-being performance high-stress environments. The concludes by suggesting directions future research validate findings explore new interventions that may further support under overload.

Introduction Housing insecurity is a social determinant of health, as evidenced by its associations with mental, physical, and biological outcomes. The scientific understanding the mechanisms which housing associated health still limited. This review adapts existing stress process models to propose conceptual model illustrating potential pathways linking specific stressor physiological epigenetic manifestations among aging adults. Methods narrative examines literature across multiple fields, including public psychology, sociology. selected for this was identified through databases Web Science, PubMed, JSTOR, Google Scholar; primarily peer-reviewed empirical studies, reviews, research reports published in English between 1981 2024; principally based United States context. Based on a framework derived from theories of social integration and health, this study examined the relationships between motivation to cultivate ties or network cultivation, diurnal salivary cortisol in Chinese older adults. The main objective was determine behavioral mechanism that translated higher into healthier rhythms 82 community-dwelling elders Shanghai. Participants were provided four saliva samples immediately, 30 minutes, 3 hours after waking at bedtime two consecutive days their range. completed questionnaire measuring (1) (2) contacts behaviors, (3) loneliness, (4) subjective socioeconomic status. Cortisol concentrations analyzed using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Mediation analysis PROCESS macro v4.2 showed composite measure embeddedness, created by combining behaviors partially mediated relationship cultivation dynamic Given relevance well-being adults, empirical findings mediating effect could inform formulation effective psychosocial interventions promote health which will have important implications for public aging societies.

Abstract Over the past 2 decades, population simulation modeling has evolved as an effective public health tool for surveillance of cancer trends and estimation impact screening treatment strategies on incidence mortality, including documentation persistent inequities. The goal this research was to provide a framework support next generation models identify leverage points in control continuum accelerate achievement equity care minoritized populations. In our framework, systemic racism is conceptualized root cause inequity upstream influence acting subsequent downstream events, which ultimately exert physiological effects mortality competing comorbidities. To date, most investigating racial have used individual-level race variables. Individual-level proxy exposure racism, not biological construct. However, single-level variables are suboptimal proxies multilevel systems, policies, practices that perpetuate inequity. We recommend future designed capture relationships between outcomes replace or extend with measures structural, interpersonal, internalized racism. Models should investigate actionable levers, such changes care, education, economic structures policies increase reductions health-care–based interpersonal This integrated approach could novel approaches, make explicit different highlight data gaps interactions model components mirroring how factors act real world, inform we collect equity, generate results policy.

Introduction While increasing evidence points toward the benefits of musical activities in promoting cognitive and emotional well-being older adults, more longitudinal studies are needed to establish their long-term effects uncover mechanisms through which affect well-being. Most previous research has focused on instrumental activities, but little is currently known about singing, even though neuroimaging suggests that it a versatile activity for brain, involving multitude neural processes potentially beneficial Methods We conducted 2-year follow-up study assess aging-related changes functioning social with self-report questionnaires standardized tests 107 adult choir singers 62 demographically matched non-singers. Data were collected at baseline (T1), 1-year (T2) (T3) follow-ups using subjective functioning, depression, engagement, quality life (QOL) all participants neuropsychological subgroup (45 41 non-singers). Results The results linear mixed model analysis showed verbal flexibility (phonemic fluency task), had higher scores already T1 no change over time, whereas non-singers enhancement from T3. Furthermore, active retrieval word knowledge (WAIS-IV Vocabulary task) significantly different T2 between groups (enhancement decline non-singers), however lacking significant within groups. Similar opposite trajectories QOL related inclusion safety environment (WHOQOL-Bref Environmental subscale) T3, these not or each timepoint. Within singers, shorter experience singing was associated greater improvement vocabulary task period, suggesting initiation age induces some benefits. There group differences any other questionnaire measure time. Discussion In conclusion, our suggest sustained phonemic fluency, while skills less clear.
