The novel brominated flame retardant decabromodiphenyl ethane (DBDPE) has become a ubiquitous emerging pollutant in the environment, which may evoke imperceptible effects humans or wild animals. Hence this study, zebrafish embryos were exposed to DBDPE (0, 0.1, 1, and 10 nM) until sexual maturity (F0), F1 F2 generations cultured without further exposure study multi- transgenerational toxicity underlying mechanism. growth showed sex-different changing profiles across three generations, social behavior confirmed neurotoxicity adult upon life cycle DBDPE. Furthermore, maternal transfer of was not detected, whereas parental neurotransmitters zygotes specifically disturbed offspring. A lack changes generation opposite trends F0 observed series indicators for DNA damage, methylation, gene transcription. Taken together, at environmentally relevant concentrations could induce zebrafish. Our findings also highlighted potential impacts on gregarious fish, would face higher risks from predators.

The herbicide linuron can cause endocrine disrupting effects in Xenopus tropicalis frogs, including offspring that were never exposed to the contaminant. mechanisms by which these are transmitted across generations need be further investigated. Here, we examined transgenerational alterations of brain and testis DNA methylation profiles paternally inherited from grandfathers developmentally an environmentally relevant concentration linuron. Reduced representation bisulfite sequencing (RRBS) revealed numerous differentially methylated regions (DMRs) (3060 DMRs) (2551 adult male F2 generation. Key genes involved somatotropic (igfbp4) thyrotropic signaling (dio1 tg) correlated with phenotypical body size, weight, hind limb length plasma glucose levels, indicating changes could potential mediators Testis DMRs found essential for spermatogenesis, meiosis germ cell development (piwil1, spo11 tdrd9) their levels number cells nests per seminiferous tubule, endpoint disrupted spermatogenesis. also identified several central machinery regulates epigenetic landscape (dnmt3a mbd2) histone acetylation (hdac8, ep300, elp3, kat5 kat14), may at least partly drive linuron-induced effects. results this genome-wide profiling contribute better understanding inheritance amphibians.

Goldfish enter a hypometabolic state to survive chronic hypoxia. We recently described tissue-specific contributions of membrane lipid composition remodeling and mitochondrial function metabolic suppression across different goldfish tissues. However, the molecular especially epigenetic foundations hypoxia tolerance in under are not well understood. Here we show that components oxygen-sensing machinery robustly activated tissues irrespective duration. Induction gene expression enzymes involved DNA methylation turnover microRNA biogenesis suggest role for transcriptional post-transcriptional hypoxia-acclimated brain. Conversely, mechanistic target rapamycin-dependent translational activity is reduced liver white muscle, suggesting this pathway does contribute lowering cellular energy expenditure. Finally, evidence supports previously reported hypoxia-dependent changes cholesterol, metabolism via transcripts cholesterol biosynthesis, β-oxidation, fusion multiple Overall, study shows induces tissues, repressive marks brain dynamics promoting suppression.

The neurodevelopmental process is highly vulnerable to environmental stress from exposure endocrine-disrupting chemicals. Perfluorinated iodine alkanes (PFIs) possess estrogenic activities, while their potential toxicity remains blurry. In the present study, effects of two PFIs, including dodecafluoro-1,6-diiodohexane (PFHxDI) and tridecafluorohexyl iodide (PFHxI), were investigated in neural differentiation mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs). Without influencing cytobiological mESCs, PFIs interfered triploblastic development by increasing ectodermal differentiation, thus promoting subsequent neurogenesis. temporal regulation Notch-Hes signaling through targeting mmu-miRNA-34a-5p provided a substantial explanation for underlying mechanism PFI-promoted mESC commitment lineage. findings herein new knowledge on toxicities which would help advance health risk assessment these kinds emerging
