As the only natural source of aromatic biopolymers, lignin can be converted into value-added chemicals and biofuels, showing great potential in realizing development green chemistry. At present, is predominantly used for combustion to generate energy, real value difficult maximize. Accordingly, depolymerization significance its high-value utilization. This review discusses latest progress field depolymerization, including catalytic conversion systems using various thermochemical, chemocatalytic, photocatalytic, electrocatalytic, biological methods, as well involved reaction mechanisms obtained products protocols, focusing on efficient strategies. In addition, challenges faced by are also expounded, putting forward possible directions developing strategies future.
